“Look, babe, just what I need!”

“A straw hat.”

“Yes! Just right for my Revolution!”

“Your revolution.”

“Aloooohaaaa! Power to the People! The government shall fall!”

“That’s not what ‘Aloha’ means.”

“No?”

“No. Love, peace, an all-encompassing force…”

“That’s it! An all-encompassing force!”

“… which holds together existence.”

“Oh.”

“We’re supposed to be on holiday. I’m having an ice cream.”

“There’s ice cream? Can I have one?”

“Yes, dear.”

“Nice! Then we can find me a more suitable revolution hat.”

“Yes, dear. (This would be cute if you weren’t 51. I married a child. My parents warned me, did I listen?…)

The thing about marrying one who is young at heart is that, once you accept it, it keeps you open to fun and enchanting experiences!
I know, I ws married to one 😉

On the other hand, if he was dull and complacent they would never have and fun! 🙂

Funny, I hadn’t thought of him as a child, but as a man with a great deal of imagination and energy 🙂

    Dear Ali,

She needs to lighten up. Would she rather be married to a stodgy old fuddy-duddy? Spot on dialogue.

    Shalom,

      Dear Rochelle,
Yes, she’s missing the fun. She’d soon find that the grass is not greener on the other side.

I loved this! Had me chuckling, especially your final parenthetical remarks. You caught the mixture of little boy and grown man perfectly.

That’s what holidays are for, becoming a child again – go build sandcastles and become the king of the beach.

It’s fine if you’re married to an immature person and are willing to handle the serious matters. Remember, you are the adult in the room. It’s more difficult if you also have young children. Of course, the children and the childlike husband can all play together I guess. 🙂 — Suzanne

Someone needs to be the adult and someone needs to be the child. Otherwise, where’s the fun?

After the ice cream, she could take him to the beach and he can make a sand castle. Kids looove that, don’t they? 🙂

Growing old is no fun at all. It should be straw hats, ice cream and pretend revolutions all the way… when on holiday, that is. 😀
