Sharing My World 18-05-2020

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

What’s something you really resent paying for?
All types of insurance. I don’t like having to pay “just in case”. Grr. Of course, you’re glad of it if your house burns down or your house unexpectedly explodes.

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen?
Star Trek 5 – The Final Frontier. How could they make something that bad in the midst of the great Star Trek, and actually think it was okay to release and not burn it?

Do you judge people?
I think everyone judges people, whether intentionally or not. The moment you see someone you form an opinion, which will alter over time, but that’s a form of snap judgement.

Finish this sentence: “Back in my day, we…”?
…spent long hot summers riding around the place on our bicycles during long hot summers holidays, not a care in the world…

Gratitude – Please feel free to share an uplifting photo, thought or meme to show your own gratitude. We can all use some good vibes!
A small but significant easing of our lockdown has allowed us to meet one person from outside our household outside, as long as we maintain the 2 metre distance. I went for a couple of walks in the country roads around the village with my friend.

The problem with insurance is that you feel like you’re throwing money out the window when you don’t make any claims, but you hope you never have to make any claims!

Thanks Alistair for Sharing Your World! 🙂 I bet it felt great to stretch your legs that way! I remember the long hot summers too, odd how our perceptions change as we age. Now that state of being is an irritant mostly and causes my utilities’ bill to rise (talk about something to resent!), but I clearly remember being a kid and welcoming summer. It seemed to go on forever!

Those August summer holidays really did last forever. Ah, nostalgia!

I really hate paying for life insurance… but at least I’ll get a big check when I die!

How nice you were able to meet someone new during these strange times.
Insurance-aaarrgghhh! Branches from my moronic neighbour’s tree fell on my house and I needed roof repair. Guess whose insurance is more expensive despite not having any claims before this incident?

House insurance is terrible if you have to make a claim.
It was weird being allowed to meet “one person from outside my household outdoors at a 2m distance at all times”. We had a good chat!

Back in my day we had such long summer vacations from school in the U.S. we were glad to go back to school. It actually feels a little like that now. 🙂 — Suzanne

It is a long way, it’s strange chatting to someone on the other side of the road 🙂

House exploded? I’ve had my oven explode- but that was a poorly calculated recipe that was to take the place of cooking meth so that the house didn’t explode. (Oh, I think I’ve said too much?)

The long, hot summers of our childhood seem to become longer and hotter in our minds as we age… well, at least they have done in my case. So much fun to be had, I never wanted summers to end. 😀
