Sharing My World 29-06-2020

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

Must we have evidence to know the truth?
As a scientist by training, I feel obliged to answer “yes”.

How much control does a person have over their life?
Maybe 50%? You start off in some circumstance which may not be in your control, for example where you were born, you might lose your job etc, then it’s up to you to take it from there. Hey, life’s all about damage control!

What is gravity and how does it work?
I’m glad you asked! As a physicist, I can answer this.

There was this chappie called Isaac Newton and one day an apple fell on his head. That made him think – how useful! Up until now everything everywhere tended to float away. Everyone had to always tie stuff down or it would disappear off into space. So he got a big bag and he captured a bunch of gravity and sold it to all his mates and made a fortune.

It’s basically a bit like Velcro.

Can a person be happy if they have never experienced sadness? How about vice versa?
I reckon so. They just might not recognise it.

Gratitude
Who knew you could bulk-buy Aero bars on Amazon?! Yum ๐Ÿ™‚

I absolutely LOVE your gravitational explanation. Especially how gravity is sort of like velcro and before Newton, everything just floated around. I could rewrite medieval history based on that answer alone.

I’m pretty sure my version is correct.

    Physicist? For real?

Well, I don’t work in physics any longer though I have a PhD in laser physics. I missed the lecture on gravity, though ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t even imagine how much time people had to invest in tying everything down so it wouldn’t float away. ๐Ÿ˜€

If only you would have taught my college physics classes, I might have actually enjoyed the subject.

Excellent Share Your World, Alistair!! As a scientist and physicist, your explanation of gravity was spot on (a tiny pun intended). ๐Ÿ˜† Great answers all round though! ๐Ÿ˜€

Nobody knows more about the real history of gravity than me ๐Ÿ™‚

“Life’s all about damage control.” Couldn’t agree more.

I didn’t know you were a physicist, but I certainly appreciate your answer on gravity. It made me LOL.

I always thought gravity worked in some other way, good to have a scientist to explain the facts. I’m thinking of selling some of mine now,. Amazon, maybe?

Good idea, just remember to keep enough to keep all your possessions on the ground!
