Sharing My World 26-10-2020

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

What’s the tallest building you’ve been to the top of?
I have no idea. It wouldn’t have been very high, though. Maybe a few storeys. A multi-storey car park or something.

What do you do to keep fit?
What is this “keeping fit” of which you speak?

What’s your jack-o-lantern carved to look like?
I’ve never carved one. I’ve never known anyone who carved one. Or bought a pumpkin. Halloween is getting bigger in the UK but has never been a big thing.

Fortunately it was largely cancelled this year, for obvious reasons. In fact, trick-and-treating was illegal in much if the UK due to various local lockdown restrictions.

Nothing says “super-spreader event” quite like going round loads of houses taking sweets from dozens of strangers!

Do you have hope or have you lost it?
I hope I have hope.

Hey, looks like I do have hope!

My answers would mirror/echo yours – apart from the last one. I did lose it at a shopping centre car park once when I saw a big Maori guy kick a pup. In fact,, you’ve never seen a car park empty of people so quickly. I didn’t even think what the consequences might be. I’m not sure who was more shocked – him or me. 😀

I’m hoping I have hope as well. It’s been rather difficult lately so I’m hoping for the best. 🙂

I do hope too, though I’m not sure.

Do they grow pumpkins in the UK? I never really thought about it, but they are kinda native to North America. At least we gave you the grey squirrel…

You can have them back if you want to! The grey squirrels that is!

I don’t really know. You see them in supermarkets.
Darn those grey squirrels, little bullies, coming over here throwing their weight around and talking nonsense to the red squirrels. “Squirrelus Trumpus” I think they’re called in Latin…

Uh, wouldn’t the ‘Trump’ squirrel be ORANGE? I mean it’s ‘his’ color and one reason I’ll never embrace ‘orange’ on my personal palette o’ color. Ugh.

Maybe they’re in disguise. Though that sounds a bit too sophisticated for Squirrelus Trumpus.

Thanks Alistair for Sharing Your World! Hope is a slippery thing…and I suspect if you try to grab onto it, it just slides away…like so many things these days. I’ve heard from other responders that the whole ‘jack-o-lantern’ idea over the pond there is not embraced. In fact, it seems that America is sorta unique in doing that…along with Ireland and perhaps Scotland, where the idea originated. But those folk carved GOURDS (squash) to keep away evil spirits on All Hallow’s Eve or Samhain. Uh, sorry I get carried away with my squash knowledge… Well it’s November now and we’ll get back to a regular SYW…some hopefully inspiring type questions and no funky artwork..

I knew nothing about squashes – until now! Halloween’s not such a big thing over here. Just a few kids going around each others’ houses for sweets.

I despise!!!! more than a two story car park!!! IT feels too cramped for my truck. I get the squimmies!

I always attempt to park in outdoors car parks. I don’t like the tight turns from level to level in multi-storeys.
That’s a good rule of thumb for being “not fat” anyway 🙂

I am sure you must be talking to some other young man about the comments of needing to walk more so that he will be ‘not fat’. Hahaha!
