FF – Back Down to Earth

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Jennifer Pendergast.

“Look, dear, Billy’s done some artwork! I’m in it! I am at the centre of everything. The intersection of the Venn Diagram. I am his beginning and his end. I am the centre of his universe. I AM HIS GOD!”

“That’s all very nice, darling, but Billy’s only four years old. I’m not entirely sure that’s what he’s trying to say.”

“Hey, Billy, come and explain your artwork to me!”

“Well, Daddy, the yewow dinasouwus is gonna eat you, and you is vewy scared and you has done a little poo poo.”

“Humph.”

“Don’t worry, darling, you’re still the centre of my universe.”

What a let down: from being the center of the universe to being a joke! I can see it now. This little four-year-old budding artist is going to be a politician’s nightmare. Can’t wait!

No, now, I won’t seen anything but “poo” for the brown stuff in the photo. You are hilarious. I do feel for the dad in your story though. But, a four year old can be fickle. Next week, the dad’ll be the center of the little boy’s universe. =)

I love the dinosawus, and the poor Dad’s comedown. At least he’s in the picture though – my 6yo brought home a comic about his homelife last week. Even the cat features, but not me!

    Dear Ali,

What a comedown for poor Dad. At least Mum knows the right thing to say. 😉 Love this.

Leave it to Mum to rescue some of Dad’s self esteem 🙂
