Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
Which traditional Valentine’s Day gift would you rather receive: chocolates, flowers, or a card with a personal message?
I’d like a card with a personal message. And chocolates to seal the deal. I literally don’t have a free surface to put flowers on.
Do you like romantic movies?
Yes, if they’re also comedies, for example “There’s Something About Mary”, that kind of thing. Otherwise they’re just boring.
Is Valentine’s Day only about romantic love? Or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship as well?
Let’s keep it to romantic love. We’ve just had Christmas with all its expense and expectations, let’s not expand yet another day out of control.
According to Wiki (font of all knowledge) St Valentine is also the patron saint of beekeepers. So let’s show some love for the keepers of our stingy little insectoid friends.
How do you deal with unwanted romantic attention?
I’ll let you know if it ever happens.

So all those cards that say “Bee Mine” with a stupid looking cartoon bee holding a heart are actually relevant! Who knew?

Thank you for Sharing Your World Alistair! You have made several good points…why extend the debauchery of the Christmas season with one more over commercialized day that means very little (except to bee keepers apparently. I’m all for that kind of celebration…we ought to be very kind to the bees. If they go extinct, so do we.) I’ve been amazed that only one or two responders to SYW this week admitted to being hit on by someone they didn’t invite to do so. Even me (who honestly didn’t expect it to ever happen had it happen three times (at least)). Of course that was before gravity, the years and everything…
It’s interesting to read that you literally have no free surfaces where you abide. I sense there’s a story behind that..? Have a great week!

I love flowers, but I like them when they are growing better than when they are cut. Not so much a surface issue as a “are they dying yet” issue. I’m not a fan of “greeting card holidays,” of which I think this is the ultimate one. I’m glad to discover I’m not alone.

Have you seen the movie Crazy Stupid Love? I also don’t like “pure” romantic movies, but that’s a really funny one.
