FF – A World Askew

Here is my post for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Roger Bultot.

I had nothing this week and finally, several days later than usual, ended up with this.

Did you notice? That the world is getting a little askew?

Don’t worry if you didn’t. It happens very slowly. Very slowly indeed. Just a tiny bit at a time. So it’s hard to spot.

Little by little everything goes sideways. Things aren’t quite right any more. If we don’t do something, pretty soon up will be down and left will be right and no-one will even have noticed.

But have you noticed?

Close your eyes and look at the world with your mind.

Does it look quite right to you?

Nope, it is definitely askew so you are spot on! Hope you are well 🙂

This was worth waiting for. You’re exactly right – this is just how it feels. ‘If we don’t do something … ‘ That’s the key phrase. Powerful writing.

Thanks. It’s definitely getting to the point where it all turns upside down I think.

    Dear Ali,

Now that you mention it, I have noticed that things are more askew with the passing days. Well done.

We all see the world from a different perspective and that is dangerous.

…and here I thought I needed new glasses. It’s not me: it’s the world that’s gone fuzzy!

Well, without axial tilt, there are no seasons after all. Can’t wait until we’re completely sideways like Uranus…

For some reason I found this week’s very tough. I had two “comedy” ideas but couldn’t get an ending to either.

Thanks! I did try some comedy but it didn’t pan out so I had to go serious.

Nothing to add to that. Yes. We are the collective frogs in the pot and the water is getting warmer.

It’s so far askew I don’t recognise it anymore. Up is down and down is up.

Same here. It seems to be getting more screwed up with every passing day.

When I read this piece, my mind (which is normally a very scary place) conjured Pablo Picasso, and quite possibly perhaps he literally saw the world slightly askew. I guess this is my perspective about perspective, and perhaps your perspective as well 😅

Yes, I wonder if he did?
That’s a lot of perspectives to consider 🙂

Not your usual funny, flippant, cheeky self, but so so true, Ali. The world is definitely, and very sadly out of kilter.
