Sharing My World 24-07-2023
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
What makes you smile at the drop of a hat?
Fluffy baby animals on BBC’s Animal Park.
What makes you angry?
Nasty things happening. Grr argh.
What saddens you?
The general state of the world today. I think that’s a pretty common answer.
What do you find most frustrating?
The amount of time it’s taking to convert the main road through the county into a dual carriageway. I know it’s a big job (ie years) but it’s messing up traffic everywhere.

Thanks for joining in. Our current frustration is pavements and roads being dug up everywhere to accommodate the new digital communications system that’s being run out here in the UK. Sounds pretty cool when it’ll all be finished, but that could be at least a year. But, if there’s a power cut, no internet or phones will work, not even for 999 emergency calls, so it’s suggested everyone has a mobile phone handy!

BT keeps threatening that it’s “coming here soon”… 😮

Yes………. our problem too. We went up to ‘have a chat’ when their van was visiting a local garden centre, just to check on a few things. Good news is we don’t need a smartphone or cable, and if we want to keep our landline phone and number, we can order a FREE adapter (according to their website, this is not available in our area!!) . There will also be broadband deals only available when the Big Switch is thrown so it was suggested that when we get our letter announcing our changeover date, to ring them to discuss things.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes…

Yep. Our town is a mess with all the roadworks for it.

So Americans aren’t the only ones with roads constantly “under construction?” Do your construction crews usually have one bloke working while everyone else stands around and watches like ours do?

No, that’s too much like hard work. They generally put out all the cones and barriers and then bugger off down the pub en masse.

All baby animals are so adorable!
For me the most frustrating thing is to call a company and have to deal with an annoying AI bot for several minutes before being able (i.e. demand!) to speak with a human.

I had one of those recently and didn’t realise it was a bot at first, so that didn’t go well 🙂

I think most frustrating thing is when we know something is going to finish but actually it is not. ☺️

I felt that near the end of the third Lord of the Rings film in the cinema. I was desperate for the toilet after about 3 hours but it just kept going on and on!

What about not-so-fluffy baby animals, like a sphynx cat? 🙂

I’m afraid I find sphinx cats hideous in general 😮
