FF – Snacks for Cats
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. The photo this week was contributed by J Hardy Carroll.
After last week’s darkness, a silly little one this week from me. It includes my special sound effects (patent pending).

“Have you reversed that shrink ray yet?”
“Nearly.”
“Unbelievable. Three weeks stuck in a shrunken church. Which is now an ornament. An ornament! At my time of life…”
“One sec.”
“Didn’t you think? Didn’t you consider…”
“Well, clearly not.”
“That cat has been giving me the evils. He looks hungry…”
“Got it!”
Zzzzzzzzzzap! Crunch! Splinter!
“Oh, that’s just great. Enlarge us inside the guy’s house. What a mess.”
“Will you stop moaning?”
“And look! The church enlarged, we’re still tiny! Did you program for bio-matter? That’s just marvellous, that is. And here comes that cat again… oh crap.”
MEEEEOW! Munch!
This is so funny!

Mistaken for a Dreamies snack… all in the name of science. (I assume these guys are guinea pigs for the shrink ray reversal experiment.)

Honey I shrunk the…
This reminds me of a study reported on the radio, that came to the conclusion that you would be much more quickly eaten by your cat, once you expire, than by your dog. Both will eat you, but the dog will wait longer. 😊
They did not address the question of which would eat you more quickly, should you be shunk to “bite-size.” Clearly, the question demands further study. 😊
Great adventures in a scifi wonderland!

I think I read that somewhere too. Cats are much less domesticated than dogs so I can believe it!

Oh, no! Shrink ray machine; what could go wrong? Obviously needs more testing. 🙂

I hope it’s a quick death then. From what I’ve observed in my cat, there’s endless hours of fun to be extracted from live food before you actually digest it

I bet the cat sat waiting for 3 weeks for the opportunity too. Great fun.

I was going to say like Sandra… the trouble with cats is they like to torment their “food” first, often leaving them half-alive just because they are nasty beasties…
Poor fools.

I know my cat well enough to say he wouldn’t hesitate to eat me if I were tiny enough. Thanks for the nightmares!
Just kidding- Really imaginative take on the prompt, I enjoyed it 🙂

Haha! The image of the church erupting to full size in the guy’s house is magical! The demise of two researchers would have been no more than a footnote compared to the consternation a ‘new’ church would cause. Great story!

Made me laugh. You packed a lot into this little tale – shrink rayed it perhaps to squeeze it all in?
