Sharing My World 11-09-2023
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Do you like change?
No. Not things changing or the sort of change you get when you buy something. Unless it’s pound coins.
Can you remember the last time you had to use an operator service?
I’m not sure what that is, but based on the following questions I’ll assume it’s the telephone operator. In which case I can’t remember. I don’t even know if there still is an operator. As for private companies, it’s always a computer service these days.
What is the best and worst ‘hold’ music you have had to listen to?
I don’t really remember hold music. I think that’s the point – it’s designed to be as unforgettable and inoffensive as possible.
Do you find numerous ‘options’ annoying when connected to an automated service?
Yes. I usually don’t phone companies if I can avoid it, I use online chat instead. Of course these days you often have to fight your way past a bot there as well. In fact last week I was in town and I actually went into the bank and spoke to a real person because I can’t handle all the automated shit any more 😮

I hate calling too. I use the chat before I do that. But yea the bots…did that solve your problem? No. Click here for more answers. Repeat. The hamster wheel in full motion!

Yeah, it’s awful. And half the time you know your question is too complicated for the bot to answer anyway.

You still have a physical bank?!!!!!!!!? In my town of 15,000 inhabitants there is no bank or post office left.

I live 8 miles from Cornwall’s only city (Truro) so it has one of each major bank at the least. There is still a post office in the village, thankfully.

Did you check the real person over real closely to make sure there were no wires? Did their nametag read “AI?”

Oh no! I thought it was “Al” like short for Alan or something…

AI is everywhere! First the nauseating hold music and then bots who say they know all the answers and don’t. I’m constantly (and rather loudly) demanding to speak with a human! 😀

It’s the rise of the machines 😮

If we have any banking business, we go into a branch where they have a variety of machines, one of which shows pending entries for the following day, and with statements anything that is outstanding but not yet showing is included in the available balance. High Street banking has changed though as you can’t open new accounts in most branches, even if like us, you’ve been with the bank over 25 years!
I’d much rather deal with a person than a machine.
Hold music has progressed from the bing bong Greensleeves, but it’s still annoying if you have to listen to it for more than five minutes!
Thanks for joining in this week.

I hate paying money in using machines. I was very happy when they added cheque paying-in to their banking apps. Now I hardly have to go to the bank at all 🙂

Odd as it seems, it’s an outing for us as we have to travel 20 miles to a branch of ours!

I hate the automatic answering apps, I hate the bots, I hate the over-automation of almost everything. If it wasn’t such a long drive to the bank I’d just GO there!

Yep, same with me.

Draliman, we have to wait for almost an hour to get a real purrson, at least that’s what we hope for🙈, on the phone, and within 5 minutes there’s someone to chat online, as if no-one wants to be on the phone anymore😸Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞

It’s almost like these companies don’t want to hear my complaints 😉
