Sharing My World 29-01-2024
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Who is your oldest living relative (aunt, grandparent etc)?
With an uncle and aunt passing away over the past couple of years, I’m pretty sure it would be my Mum. She wouldn’t thank me for posting her age 🙂
How often do you visit them or is distance a factor?
I see her generally once a week when we have tea together. I was there yesterday as I took her to have her hair done.
Have any of your family lived to be 100?
Not that I’m aware of. Mid 80s to mid 90s seems to be the norm.
Would you like to celebrate your 100th birthday?
Only if I’m still mobile and fully mentally capable.

I agree about celebrating my 100th birthday, I’d only want to do it if I was healthy!

You wouldn’t want to be just a head attached to machines living in a jar in some medical lab when you’re 100? I’m sure someone would be kind enough to feed you some birthday cake…

How do you know I’m not already…?

Thanks for joining in. I can’t see me reaching 100 years of age. My father’s sister will celebrate her 100th birthday in June and I believe will be the first in the family to do so.

No-one in my family has made it that far, I doubt I will.

My Mum was almost 96 when she died, as was her brother who passed away last year. Her other two brothers died when they were much younger. My Dad was only 67, though his father was in his 70s. His Mum died when he was a child, and there is a surviving half brother who will be 82 this year.

I’m the oldest (75) in our family. The next oldest is my son-in-law who is 65 in September – he’s 11 years older than my daughter who he’s married to. My grandfather lived to 98.
