Sharing My World 01-09-2025
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Is your home heated by radiators, underfloor heating or an open fire?
I have a couple of electric radiators. One has a built-in fan. I also have a couple of oil-filled radiators.
What is a comfortable temperature in the colder months for your home?
Comfortable would be anything above about 20C. That never happens, though. My house generally sits at around 10-12C. Sticking the radiator on for a little while boosts it to 14-15C temporarily. Hot water bottles, duvets and extra jumpers, that’s how I roll.
What is more appealing, a mug of hot coffee or tea, a bowl of warming soup, or stew and dumplings?
Hot soup – it’s somewhat substantial yet warming.
Would you prefer to share the dawning of a new day or a beautiful sunset?
Photo-wise, it can be hard to tell the difference. Psychologically it depends on my mood. Here’s a sunset taken from where my office used to be before we moved into town.
And here’s a sunrise, coincidentally taken from about the same place.

Heating is so expensive I set it low; so it’s a good thing I like colder weather.
Great photos!

It’s horribly expensive, especially when it’s radiators and not central.

Fabulous pictures! Thanks for sharing and sharing your world this week.
We used 500W oil filled rads on the boat in the winter rather than run the central heating through the engine which would have been expensive. However, just 20 minutes of doing that when really necessary was enough to boost the temperature. The rads were placed one at each end of the boat on miser overnight and it was enough to just raise it to level 3 (of 5) during the day at the one end if we were aboard.

Boosting it when required is the thing to do.

Here in America, we have a law that says the sun has to rise in the east and set in the west. Any shenanigans like having a sunrise and sunset in the same place, and we have the sun god doing time in the penitentiary…

I hadn’t noticed that. I wonder if I mislabelled the photos way back when. I suspect one is right towards the sun, the other isn’t and was just a nice reddening of the sky as the sun went down…

It did strike me as odd. I assume it would be possible at really high latitudes to have sunsets and sunrises in the same quadrant of the sky…
