Have you ever had a pet that was NOT a dog or a cat?
Just goldfish from the fun fair. The ones you take home in a little plastic bag, pop in a bowl and go belly up after a week.

Did you have pets in the household when you were a child?
Just the afore-mentioned temporary goldfish.

Do/did you find pets therapeutic?
Cats can be therapeutic when they’re not racing around the place shredding the curtains.

How old were you when you had your first pet, or have you never had one?
Quite little, goldfish-wise. I didn’t have cats until I was in my twenties.

Which of the following could you NOT do without? Automatic washing machine, TV/cable, Microwave oven.
I can heat food in the oven or air fryer and I can watch TV on the computer/tablet, but there’s no way I’m dragging my clothes to the laundrette.

Which would be your priority of these: a warm coat or a comfortable pair of shoes.
You can’t beat a comfortable pair of shoes. I can always put on more jumpers to keep warm!

Would you rather have a hot cup of tea/coffee or hot soup?
Coffee, unless I’m hungry. Then soup.

If you had the choice rather than necessity/cost effectiveness, would you rather rent a property, buy with a mortgage, or share with family/friends and split the cost?
I would buy a property, which is what I did. That way it’ll be all paid off once I retire and I can spend my pension on more important things. Like Lego.

If money was no object, where in the world would you like to visit?
New Zealand to see the Hobbits of course 🙂

Would you like to visit Outer Space?
Not really. There not a lot there.

Have you ever been on a cruise?
No, but I’d like to once I have retired.

Would you like to go on an underwater adventure?
I would but “tourist submersibles” don’t seem very safe and I’m not really fit enough for scuba diving. Something around a coral reef perhaps, to see all the little underwater animals.

If you were an animal, what would you like to be?
As always, a cat. Eat, sleep, repeat. That’s the life for me. That’s what I do on my days off, anyway. I’m a man-cat!

Do you prefer curtains or blinds at your windows?
Curtains, in general. I don’t currently have any blinds. I had some in the bathroom but they got all mouldy so now I have mouldy curtains instead.

Do you drive?
Yes. I live in a small village and the bus service isn’t amazingly good.

When was the last time you rode a pushbike (bicycle)?
I seem to remember having a quick go on my childhood bike when we found it in the garage years ago but apart from that, when I was a kid. It’s all country roads and nasty hills around here.

Do/did you collect anything (stamps, cards, action figures, etc) now or as a child?
I used to collect stamps, and also bookmarks from places we visited. I got a lot from Scotland as we spent summer holidays there.

What is the silliest thing you’ve ever bought?
I can’t really recall anything “silly” I’ve bought. Everything I buy is cool (in my head).

When it comes to jewellery, do you prefer gold, silver, or gem stones?
I don’t really do jewellery. But if anyone out there wants to buy me some, I’ll have a massive diamond please.

Do you know what your birthstone is?
According to the interwebs, it’s opal. Which doesn’t seem to be able to decide which colour it wants to be.

What can you remember about your last day at school/college?
I have vague recollections of my last day at Sixth Form, feeling it weird that I would never be coming back but also happy that I wouldn’t have to come back.

Were you close enough to walk to school or did you need transport?
I usually walked home school as I recall. I would have got a lift from Mum sometimes as well. It was a bit of a trek, about 30 minutes I guess. I don’t remember whether I got a lift to school or not, probably sometimes a lift and sometimes I walked.

Did you have a favourite teacher?
There are one or two teachers I remember fondly.

Would you like to go back to school?
Oh god no.

Do you have a bucket list?
No. Too much pressure to get things done for a lazy boy like me 🙂

Cremation or burial?
Cremation. There’s not enough room in this country for burying people really.

Recognised service/celebration of life, or private gathering?
Whatever whoever is left wants. I may be “last man standing” so maybe nothing.

Flowers or donations?
Donations would be nice. Flowers seem like a bit of a waste for a non-happy occasion.

If you wanted to do something completely against your character, would you dye your hair a shocking colour, shave your head or get a tattoo?
I really don’t fancy any of those. I guess dying my hair would be the most temporary option.

What is your dream/perfect job?
I wouldn’t mind working outside, some sort of nature conservation. I’d probably soon wish I was back working inside again, though.

Would you like to learn how to fly an aeroplane?
Yes, though I wouldn’t be any good at it. It was scary enough learning to drive a car.

Have you been on a hovercraft?
Nope. Riding on one of those little hovercraft sounds fun, though.

Of all the household chores (laundry, dusting, hoovering, washing up, cooking etc) which is your least favourite?
I never do any dusting, so that.

With food prices going up all the time, do you buy less, find substitutes, or don’t buy at all?
I just buy what I always bought and complain about it. I’m fortunate not to be on a budget.

Do you enjoy meals with left overs?
If I have leftovers I’ll make something with them. They can often make the best meals, chucking everything in together, adding some tinned tomatoes and cooking it all up together.

Do you prefer bagels, crusty bread, or toast?
I like crusty bread but thirty years ago a piece of crusty bread jammed into my gum and it got infected so that put me off a bit. I don’t really know exactly what a “bagel” is. They mention them a lot on American TV.

What is the weather like today where you are?
It’s currently 5C. We’re towards the end of what we would call a “cold snap”, though temperatures barely dropped to 0. It’s colder than average and quite prolonged. It’s still dark outside but I think it’s supposed to be cloudy today.

Have you booked your annual vacation yet?
I’ve booked a few days in the Pitlochry area, in Scotland.

Do you have a passport, and when does it expire?
I have an expired passport. It expired about 10 years ago, I think.

When was the last (or first) time you went abroad?
When I last lived abroad (Ireland). I came back to the UK early 2003. The first time I went abroad was a school exchange trip to Germany, which would have been somewhere around 1985/1986.
