Happiness – a nonet
Here it is, as promised – a happy poem! And a nonet, no less.
Happiness – this was a real stretch for me. Reaching outside of my limits. Absolutely nothing in this poem dies horribly, gets cut down or meets an untimely end – guaranteed!
And I couldn’t even find a picture of sparrows (with a redistribution licence).

Amazing, I read earlier in the week that were planning this. It’s really beautiful, but I really like the darker stuff too π

Thank you!
I’m glad you like the darker stuff too because there’s a lot more of that on here than happy stuff! But I did promise… π

This is nice, maybe try a little more happy stuff? Though I admit the dark stories are nice too otherwise I would not read them π

I’ll see if I can slip some more happy ones in amongst the dark π

Thanks to my awesome skills with Paintshop Pro it took four times longer to put the poem on the picture than it did to write the poem π

Yep! I certainly know better than to “flatten my layers” now. I’ve learned my lesson π

Ok, you kept your promise, nice work. I keep thinking it was more like a punishment for you to write happy. I’m jealous of your brain cells.

No, not a punishment, it just doesn’t “speak” to me the way darker poetry does (even when I’m reading someone else’s).
Maybe if I do some more it will – that would be kinda nice π

I think I understand. I don’t “feel” happiness by reading happy words or a happy story. I can feel humor, even laugh loudly but seldom feel joy in a happy story. Laughter or humor in a books has me smiling so maybe that is happiness.
Happiness comes to me in living moments, in nature or with people.
I feel most other emotions with words and stories but not not happy. Seems to be a disconnect for me.
Hope that makes sense. That why I tease you about your happy writing quest. I could not do it or want to.

Actually, that does make sense to me. I hadn’t thought about it that way before but I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there – thanks!
I’ve just been thinking through books and films which have elicited emotions from me and you’re right – pretty much everything except “happy”. Maybe that’s nature’s way of telling us to put the book down once in a while, switch off the TV and go out and be with people.
