Here is my submission for this week’s 100 word Friday Fictioneers photo prompt! This week our host Rochelle has submitted one of her own photos. Here goes!

Garvin stood back, admiring his collection. A toy car, a pram – he had spent years gathering these trinkets, though none held any meaning for him.

Anyone who had ever hurt him, anyone who’d treated him like dirt – he’d stolen something of great sentimental value to them. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, none had known the power running through his veins.

The power to control others.

Where to start… yes! He fetched the photograph belonging to the boy who’d treated him like a slave at school and began to chant.

Now it was Garvin’s turn to be the Puppetmaster.

    Karma’s such a bitch, lol 🙂

    • September 4, 2013 at 7:07 pm

Looks like they picked on the wrong chap 🙂

  2. September 4, 2013 at 7:46 pm

Sounds like you may have a little talent for horror 🙂

    • September 4, 2013 at 7:54 pm

Funny you should say that – in response to a “reader request” I’ve written quite a dark piece (in my head), for release soon! I’ve already drawn a (reasonably spooky) DraliDoodle for it to set the scene, now all I need is to get the words out of my head and onto the computer!

  3. September 4, 2013 at 8:03 pm

I am now glad I never knew a kid named Garvin!

    • September 4, 2013 at 8:06 pm

Yeah, and he probably got teased over his name too. I wouldn’t want to be the teasers now. They’re screwed 😉

  4. September 4, 2013 at 8:40 pm

Very dark, I hope he learns to use his powers for the better soon!

    • September 4, 2013 at 8:43 pm

I hope so – evidently he’s held out this long so maybe once he’s dabbled a bit in the “dark side” he’ll turn back to the light.
Or at least a lighter shade of grey 🙂

  5. September 4, 2013 at 9:45 pm

It seems you have a diabolical side to you…

    • September 5, 2013 at 6:23 am

      Indeed I have.
      Bwahahahahaha 🙂

Well done, revenge can be a good thing to be writing about.

    • September 5, 2013 at 6:24 am

      But not to engage in!

        True Friend, true.

    Haha Karma is fair 😉

There’s no escaping it. It’s been years for some of them, but they’re about to get what’s coming to them!

aaand that is why you should try to be nice to people 🙂 a very dark, imaginative take on the theme.

    • September 5, 2013 at 7:27 am

      A lesson there indeed!
Thanks, I was a bit stumped by this photo and then it suddenly came to me! I was worried I’d have to skip one and I only just started FF a couple of weeks ago 🙂

haha i thought this prompt was pretty tough too ^^ and i was trying to stay away from writing another horror piece

        • September 5, 2013 at 8:11 am

Well, yours did have a dead person in it 🙂

  9. September 5, 2013 at 10:29 am

    Dear Draliman,

They say ‘what goes around comes around’. Looks like this guy’s the one who can make it happen. Nice one.

    • September 5, 2013 at 11:13 am

Yes, looks like a lot of people picked on the wrong chap!

  10. September 5, 2013 at 10:29 am

    Hey Mr. Draliman,

I think being the seventh son of a seventh son also helps pick winning lottery tickets. Once he runs out of enemies he should work on making friends. Good story.

    • September 5, 2013 at 11:14 am

      Thanks Doug!
If he finds he can pick the winning numbers I’m sure he’ll gather a huge number of “friends” very quickly!

  11. September 5, 2013 at 11:39 am

Such a lovely piece. A unique POV and plot twist…. Nice one.

    • September 5, 2013 at 12:32 pm

      Thank you!
I had a bit of bother at first but finally a story came to me.

Seems like you and I were on a similar way of thinking this week, but you communicated yours very well, whereas I needed more room.

    • September 5, 2013 at 5:39 pm

I read yours – I thought it worked well, I understood what was happening!
It was very hard to fit into 100 words this week. I had to ditch a lot of content in order to get enough in to make it obvious what was going on.

  13. September 5, 2013 at 6:04 pm

Yes! Way to go Garvin! Tight, energetic, with a nice zinger at the end. My favorite kind of story! 😀

    • September 5, 2013 at 6:11 pm

Thank you so much! Garvin’s not standing by idly any longer – no more doormat.
It had to be tight, I seriously ran out of words and had to edit it to bits :-). I guess that’s the beauty of a 100 word challenge.

  14. September 6, 2013 at 12:52 am

    Ahh, power of righteous revenge.
I like Gavin, he has patience and the power. Very attractive man-child.

    • September 6, 2013 at 2:24 am

Oops Garvin. I’ve never had the pleasure of serving revenge however I’ve witnessed it happening. I almost felt sorry for the person. I want to know what happens.

      • September 6, 2013 at 6:53 am

I’m not sure how I feel about revenge. Most people would jump at the chance but possibly feel quite bad about it afterwards.

    • September 6, 2013 at 6:48 am

Yes, he waited until he had all his “trophies” before embarking on his revenge!

  15. September 6, 2013 at 6:32 pm

The pain of the past often brings us to the point of desiring retribution.

    • September 6, 2013 at 6:37 pm

Very true. Let’s hope that Garvin doesn’t take it too far though. I think he just wants to humiliate them a bit, as they did him.

  16. September 6, 2013 at 8:00 pm

Ah, yes, if only it were true, but I fear this puppet master is quite mad! Fun take on the collection…

    • September 6, 2013 at 8:20 pm

Yes, you could be right. He has been ill-treated for so long and by so many the last of his sanity has fled, and now all that’s left is his thirst for revenge…

  17. September 6, 2013 at 8:36 pm

    Dark. Menacing. Good flash.

Great dark tale, love the build up to his terrible retribution, well done

    • September 7, 2013 at 6:24 pm

Thanks! It was a struggle to get it to fit into 100 words but I got there in the end.
      Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

    • September 8, 2013 at 4:32 am

It’s scary thinking of the things he might make his victims do…

  20. September 8, 2013 at 7:31 pm

ah.. this is eerie… wonder what he will do…

    • September 8, 2013 at 7:41 pm

I’m not sure I want to know! Anything he wants…

  21. September 15, 2013 at 5:07 pm

Wow this is really creepy !!! Love it 🙂
