Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge
The lovely Hope* The Happy Hugger has started a new challenge – Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge!
This is quite the challenge for me as I don’t have any pets. However, not wishing to exclude the sadly petless, she has indicated that any pictures of animals will be okay, so here are a couple of pictures of some horsies. I’m sorry that the horsies are so far away, but I was worried that they might come a-chargin’ at me. I don’t know if horsies are the type of animal that go a-chargin’ at people but I didn’t want to take any chances.
This horsie looks about ready to attack! Fortunately it’s not as close as it looks – I used the zoom on my little point-and-click camera. Phew!
These pictures were taken a few weeks ago at Colliford Lake, Cornwall, which is 40 miles from where I live. I had a couple of days off so I took a little trip.
No, horses are NOT the kind of animals that go a-chargin’ at people ๐ That would be bulls, or even sheep, but not horses. They are however, likely to run away if you get close and they don’t trust you — so for the sake of taking pictures, sometimes it’s better to keep back anyway or all you get is their butts as they head off to greener pastures.

I kinda figured that might be the case (though you never know!). I didn’t want to scare them either, and a little way along the shore some people were walking a dog. The last thing I wanted was to spook the horses in the direction of the dog.
I do tend to shy away from large animals, no matter how harmless I believe them to be, however ๐

Pretty. Ponies or horses? They look pretty happy ๐

I think they’re probably ponies. They looked fairly “wild”, like the ponies you see roaming Dartmoor in Devon.

Turkeys will come charging and attack, so will geese. You are safer with the ponies.

I know full well to stay away from geese. The thing is I’m wary of animals larger than myself.
Quite a few people get crushed in the countryside every year ๐ฆ
That’s by cows though. And tractors.
