Sharing My World 1 and 2

I’ve noticed that recently I’ve posted pretty much just fiction, especially with the Chain Writing Game I’ve started to participate in. Maybe it’s time for something different, I thought, and just as I thought this I noticed that a few of my bloggy friends are doing this “Share Your World” thing, courtesy of Cee’s Photography blog. Thank you Cee!

It’s basically four questions to answer every week, and you can find out more than all you ever wanted to know about me!

I’m a Β bit behind. This is already week 2, so I’m going to do weeks 1 and 2 all in one. I know, a tall order. Nevertheless, I shall attempt it! I’ll try to be brief this week as I’m doing two at once. Maybe next time I will add some pictures.

Week 1

What are some of your favourite type of proteins to eat? (meat, eggs, soy, cheese, nuts)
Thank you for giving me some examples of proteins! I’ve heard of them, of course, but I just see “food” generally. This one is easy: cheese. Mmm, cheese.

Are you a morning or night person?
Morning, no question. I get up really early even on weekends (like 5am early). Then after lunch (unless I’m at work) I have a nice nap. There’s nothing quite like a nice nap πŸ™‚ .

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water or other?
The only hot drink I drink is coffee. I know caffeine isn’t the best if you take too much and I drink loads of it at work but it’s instant and everybody knows that doesn’t count. Right? At home I have a little one-man cafetiere.

Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favourite?
This is a tricky one. It’s a toss-up between sight and hearing I think. I think perhaps hearing as I wouldn’t like it if I couldn’t listen to my music. Although without taste I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my cheese, and I do like my cheese. Mmm, cheese.

Week 2

If you had to move to a country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
If I had to move to another country I would choose New Zealand. The scenery looks beautiful and I would like to visit the Hobbits. They seem very friendly on those “Lord of the Rings” documentaries and I’m sure they would welcome me into their burrows with open arms!

Music or silence while working?
I would prefer music, but then it’s harder for people to get my attention and that doesn’t seem right. I could listen with just one earphone in but that annoys me intensely. I listen to music until around 8:15am when other people in my department start to arrive, which gives me time to listen to a whole album of Alisha’s Attic or Florence and the Machine or whoever. I used to fall asleep to music but in 1989 I had a bad ear infection during which I couldn’t even walk in a straight line, and for some reason I never listened to music while going to sleep again!

What is your favourite colour?
Blue. Yes, I know. Boring.

Do you have a bucket list? What are your three items? A bucket list are things you want to do before you die.
I don’t have a bucket list – I don’t want to be lying on my death bed looking at my bucket list with nothing crossed off and getting upset. Especially if one of the entries says “visit Hobbits in New Zealand” and I haven’t done it 😦 .

That’s all for this week (and last week)! Enjoy your day πŸ™‚ .

  1. January 14, 2014 at 8:41 pm

Wait.. Hobbits live in New Zeeland??!!! I saw two the other day… or hmm… what DID I see!

Cheese… and blue.. blue cheese. Eureka! Hmmmm πŸ™‚

    • January 14, 2014 at 8:45 pm

Well, according to what I’ve seen Hobbits get around a bit so you could be lucky enough to see them anywhere!

      Mmm, cheese πŸ™‚

    • January 14, 2014 at 9:03 pm

      Short people?

I am so glad you decided to participate in this. Love the answers, and blue most certainly is not boring πŸ™‚

    • January 14, 2014 at 9:04 pm

I think blue is quite a common favourite colour, though!
I saw you and another couple of people I’m following doing this and it looked like fun – it gets me away from fiction for a change as well. My blog was never intended to be all stories πŸ™‚

  3. January 14, 2014 at 9:03 pm

I love cheese.Cheese is good. So is music. And Hobbits.

    • January 14, 2014 at 9:05 pm

We are of one mind! Musical cheese-loving Hobbits.

  4. January 14, 2014 at 9:11 pm

New Zealand used to be a place I want to visit and perhaps if I ever travel by air again it maybe back on it. I can’t imagine a longer flight. I love to fly, I just hate airports and all the hassle and being packed in a plane like sardines. Maybe I need my own private jet πŸ™‚
Thanks so much for trying SYW. I really enjoyed your answers. Hopefully I’ll see you next week!

    • January 14, 2014 at 9:17 pm

Thank you for posing the questions! I hope to do this every week πŸ™‚
I hate flying as well, especially all the hassle at the airport, and it is about as far as one can fly from the US/UK I think. Yuk! I can just about handle a flight to Europe as that’s a couple of hours max but there’s still the airport to contend with.
A private jet would be good, indeed.

  5. January 14, 2014 at 9:29 pm

I immediately pictured a mouse in my head at “cheese, mmmm cheese” – I love cheese especially brie & camembert however too much cheese does not love me… Hobbits, yes I would love to go live in the shire with the Hobbits. As for music, I can’t imagine life without music – but I cannot sleep with music on.

as for a favourite colour there are just so many to choose from… eeps.. this could cause a mental melt down…

    • January 14, 2014 at 9:40 pm

I’ve been lucky with cheese – I don’t ever seem to suffer any ill effects. I live in fear that I’ll some day become lactose intolerant and then my staple food will be gone 😦 .
A life in the Shire would be a lovely life, I reckon πŸ™‚
Don’t have a mental melt down – choose a colour quick! Blue is nice.

      • January 14, 2014 at 9:45 pm

yes blue is lovely… but which shade of blue? grey blue like a stormy ocean, slate blue, indigo, periwinkle (which is kind of more purple), corn flower, powder, sky, royal, navy, black-blue like a midnite sky…. see my dilemma???

        • January 15, 2014 at 7:25 am

I like a nice deep purplish blue, edging into indigo I suppose.

Oh you really must visit New Zealand one day. The countryside is so beautiful it would knock your socks off. I haven’t seen a Hobbit but I hear they are rather shy. I am sure they would love to have an American fan visit them and they would fling their little burrow doors wide open for you. πŸ™‚

    • January 15, 2014 at 7:28 am

I hope they would fling their burrow doors wide for a British fan as well πŸ™‚
The countryside does look very beautiful in films and photos I have seen.

Oh are you British? I know they would!

        • January 15, 2014 at 11:24 am

          Hobbits love us Brits πŸ™‚

Cheese. Yes, please. New Zealand does sound like a wonderful place to visit.

    • January 15, 2014 at 7:28 am

Everybody seems to be a cheese and New Zealand fan! It’s going to get very crowded in the cheese shops over there πŸ™‚

Glad you want to visit my other country. Yes it is a long flight and all, but really just a case of psychological preparedness. And really it is so utterly worth it.
The airports are not so bad if you know which ones (Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur) are on my list for transfer. Singapore not too bad either. I avoid LAX though.
As for hobbits, they can be seen in very local places. Some pretty impressive tours on that around the country again.

    • January 15, 2014 at 7:32 am

      Maybe one day…
I think the most usual route is to go through Singapore from here (though most people I know of were going to Australia). I’ve definitely never heard of anyone flying to NZ via the US from here – it sounds like it’s going the wrong way (though the world isn’t flat and sometimes odd-sounding routes are the fastest).

Through the US is exactly the same in time πŸ™‚ AirNZ has (or used to have) London-LAX-Auckland. Fastest in flying time is via the Northpole (Japan Airlines) but has a stopover in Tokyo. The cheapest used to be through Buenos Aires by the Argentinian airlines, included a soptover there but that one is gone.
Emirates also has a new one. Connection is close in from time what I hear.
Showing off my experience with this travel

        • January 15, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Very impressive! I think I would be inclined to give LAX a miss, though. A stopover in Tokyo sounds nice. Different culture and all that.

  9. January 15, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Kool, I’m gonna do this too. It looks like fun πŸ™‚

    • January 15, 2014 at 6:25 pm

It is fun and a nice change for me from flash fictions!

  10. January 20, 2014 at 1:29 pm

    Funny stuff.
