Sharing My World 2015 Week 36

Here’s my regular Share Your World post, hosted as ever by Cee over at her newly redesigned blog, Cee’s Photography. Thanks for hosting, Cee!

If you were a pen, what type, style and colour would you be?
A pen? Hmm. I’ve imagined being a multi-billionaire, a top footie player, an international playboy, but never a pen. Black ink. Nothing too fancy. But with some sort of clicker mechanism on the end. Having my head dragged across paper all day would be bad enough without someone constantly chewing on my ass.

How many languages do you you speak?
That depends on what’s meant by “speak”, from a “fluent” point of view.

UK English, obviously. Most American English words and spellings (thanks US TV!) and some Australian English slang. French (enough to get by in restaurants and the like) and German (enough for simple conversations).

Do computer languages count? ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, ASP, VBScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, T-SQL, PowerShell.

Are you a listener or talker?
Definitely a listener, especially around people I don’t know. I need to get a sense of people before saying too much so that I can slip into the conversation unnoticed.

Rather Have: Β Which would you rather have, 2 million dollars or true love?Β
Is this true love that will remain that way, or the true love which quickly fades into tolerance (he asked cynically)? I think maybe the cold hard cash in my pocket would be the way to go here.

I’m about to take the plunge and click the “upgrade to Windows 10” button! So if I go quiet for a little while, it’s because I’ve screwed my laptop. Yay :-). Wish me luck…

Good luck! Windows 10 is actually okay. Unlike your life as a pen. lolπŸ˜„

Thanks! I’ve read that it’s pretty good, I’m just worried about a mid-install snafu :-). Well, now I’ve cleared my comments, it’s time to go for it!

Following my plan, I would have enough money over time to replace my “true love” if it started to fade.

Upgrading to 10? Damn, I never even got a chance to say goodbye. (10 is fine, but I didn’t hate 8 either. It did take forever to update, it seemed.)

      Well… it worked. I’m back!

  3. September 13, 2015 at 10:47 am

True love which quickly fades into tolerance? Yikes, you may be worse than me. lol

Hilarious, Ali. I loved the bit about the pen. I got this picture in my mind of your face on the writing end having your nose rubbed across the page. πŸ˜€ If you had the two million dollars, I don’t know about true love, but you’d certainly be able to find some kind of love. πŸ˜€ Well done.

    • September 13, 2015 at 2:12 pm

I did think I might be able to use some of the money to buy the illusion of true love πŸ™‚

  5. September 13, 2015 at 3:06 pm

Great responses! I have missed the interaction. Been away from writing for a little while.

    1. The chewing is going to happen… but at least you get clicked?
    2. Soooo many languages to talk to non-humans?
    4. Take the money a run… Love has a way of finding you. No need for the money…

    • September 13, 2015 at 3:33 pm

I’m hoping a clicker pen doesn’t get chewed so much!
Non-humans are far easier to talk to πŸ™‚

But I have found that with the non-humans you converse with… they never admit to being wrong… It is always ME that is wrong?

  6. September 13, 2015 at 5:51 pm

Hoping that was more the comic than the cynic talking about that thing called Love πŸ™‚

  7. September 13, 2015 at 10:26 pm

Luck on switching window platforms….Yikes. Yes computer languages should count for secondary languages. πŸ˜€

    • September 14, 2015 at 11:58 am

      Yay! I’m multi-lingual then!

Hehe, I love how you included codes as languages. And the true love. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of girls or guys who’ll truly love you until all is spent. πŸ˜‰

    • September 14, 2015 at 11:59 am

Yeah, I’ll have to try to make the money last πŸ™‚

LOL! You would probably truly love the 2 million dollars. ❀

It’s strange how much better a person looks, how funnier the jokes are as the zeros multiply in the bank account.

    • September 14, 2015 at 12:01 pm

Very true (to a certain type of person) πŸ™‚

  11. September 14, 2015 at 2:48 am

2 million dollars is not a lot of money. It would have to be invested to amount to much.
The British movie Enduring Love recently was on and it could or not answer your question.
I don’t know if I liked it or not, true.

    • September 14, 2015 at 12:02 pm

Yeah, 2 million isn’t what it was. You’d certainly have to be careful with it to make it last.
      I’ve not seen that film.

Your answers are so funny. I had to get a new system because I had XP and it wouldn’t upgrade. So windows 10 is very new to me.

    • September 17, 2015 at 7:15 pm

I’m glad you liked my answers!
Windows 10 must be quite a shock after Windows XP. I hope you get on with it okay. I’m gradually learning where everything is!
