FF – Memorial Rose
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dale Rogerson.
Beth stroked the rose petals. She had snagged the flower from Jake’s funeral. A bit of a risk – Jake’s widow, Margie, might have seen her, but Jake had loved roses.
Such a shame – “accidental shooting”. Wrong place, wrong time.
It had become obvious, over the past few months, that Jake was never going to leave Margie. Beth had got this lovely flat out of him, though.
Surely, if she wanted the flower to remember him by, she wasn’t the psychopath that quack had said she was?
Anyway, no time to dawdle. She had a pistol to dispose of.

And no doubt another lover to move onto as well.

Smooth operator.

Yep, she knows what she’s doing.

I think she may be right. The rose is a sentimental touch not given to psychopaths. Unless, of course, it’s really a trophy

I’m surprised she isn’t saving the pistol for her next victim.

She’s very careful. I’m sure the next one will accidentally fall over a cliff.

Jake did his time… ahem. Until the next one comes along 😉

That’s the trouble with pistols; they will kill people if they’re mishandled. Not that Beth was mishandling it; she knew exactly what she was doing. Do you suppose Jake will haunt the flat?

Ooh, I hope so! Though that might just prompt her to find a new victim more quickly…

I like that idea. Him haunting her. He comes back when the next guy moves in. But is he upset that another man is living in the apartment he gave her or is he trying to warn the next guy?
If he’s not the first, are their other ghosts in her life?

Sounds like a great screenplay in the works, MythRider.

I see a horror comedy in the making.

She seems to have her priorities right. Get flat, get rid of indecisive love, get trophy, get rid of pistol. Great sinister fun.

Yes, she has it all worked out!

Dear Ali
Of course Beth isn’t a psychopath. Wink wink.

Waiting until after the funeral to dispose of the murder weapon? She’s not going to cut it as a serial killer making those kind of mistakes…

Ha, no! That is quite a few days. Not a mistake Zeeba would make. She wouldn’t bother hiding it at all…

Who’s going to dare try and arrest Zeeba. Even the Terminator would turn back…

Right. The criminally insane have such busy lives with plotting and scheming— kind of like writers. 🙂

It’s such a hectic life, poor people.

I wonder, how often can Beth get away with using men, until they have outgrown their usefulness. Probably as often as possible, if she devises new methods of getting rid of them

Yes, she just has to be a bit cunning about it all. Gunshot, fell off a boat, crushed by a falling piano…

She got what she wanted and it seems he was of no use anymore. What’s next on her list, and who will provide it I wonder.

A bit of a risk taker, still having the gun on her at the funeral.
I guess if she coulnd’t have him, no one was. Loved it …
Have a wonderful weekend …

Maybe go duck hunting before disposing of the weapon? She’s the kind of villain we love to hate, but wouldn’t life be less interesting without psychos peppered here and there? 😉

We already know she’s good at disposing of people. A gun shouldn’t be too hard. Though, those trophies always come back to haunt killers.

Hopefully she won’t do something as obvious as “throw it in the canal” – that’s the first place they always look.
