Sharing My World 06-06-2022
Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
When you were a kid, did you eat the crusts on your sandwich or not?
Yes, as far as I remember. There wasn’t the money spare to be throwing away half of every sandwich.
Are you a fan of musicals—why or why not?
That depends on the musical, like any genre. I’ve seen a couple live – Blood Brothers and Chess They were amazing. I still listen to them sometimes, along with Starlight Express and The Rocky Horror Show.
Is it difficult to do what you do? (for a living, hobby etc.). If you’re retired, what you ‘did’ previously for a job can be substituted.
I guess it is difficult to do what I do if you don’t know how to do it. Like anything, really.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to? (Doesn’t have to be a rock concert either).
I haven’t been to many “known names” concerts (we had a band in the Students’ Union every Sunday so I’ve seen plenty of live music). I guess it’s a toss-up between Iron Maiden and Paul Simon’s Rhythm of the Saints tour, both in Stuttgart around 1990/91.

Crusts are the best part.

For me, too.

There’s no point in striving to earn a crust if you are not going to eat them!

My youngest, who is very frugal, would even make his sandwiches from the bread ends when he began working and buying his own lunch food. I asked him why and he looked at me quizzically and said “why not?”

Good answer! No waste, that’s the way to go.

Well, Paul Simon and Iron Maiden are pretty much the same thing, so I can see how you’re conflicted…

I like a very wide range of music. Just not that stuff that shows up every Monday, for some reason…

As a kid I didn’t like the crusts. But as an adult, after learning to bake bread from scratch, I like crusts the best. 🙂 Iron Maiden live was fantastic!

Yes, to both!
They were supported by Anthrax as I recall. Then out came a huge Eddie and it was Maiden time 🙂

Thanks for Sharing Your World Alistair! The two concerts must have been amazing, what a great memory to have! 🙂 I am truly curious now about when that whole ‘trim the crust’ fad got started (except for fancy schmanzy rich people’s garden parties or something). I’m not terribly fond of the crust and feed mine to the birds IF I happen to eat bread at all. I’m also curious about what your job is, if that’s not too much info and you’re not comfortable sharing that? Rocky Horror (original one, not that remake mess) is my favorite ‘rock’ musical of all time, but there are a lot of really good ones out there. I admit those sorts of things are an acquired taste.. I hope you have a great week!!

“Cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off” is apparently a staple of the richy-rich. Sounds a bit soggy to me!

“I guess it is difficult to do what I do if you don’t know how to do it. Like anything, really.” The most logical statement I’ve read all day. 😊
