Sharing My World 03-10-2022
Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
Favourite horror or Halloween-themed song? Or a song you rarely hear except around a holiday.
The only Halloween-themed song I can think of is “Monster Mash”. That’s quite enjoyable. A song I rarely hear except around a holiday is “Stop the Cavalry” by Jona Lewie. It’s only ever played at Christmas as it contains the line “wish I was at home for Christmas”, though it’s actually a song about the horrors of war…
Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?
Yes. Once I saw 3.1415927 – pi to 7 decimal places. That’s quite a figure!
Which urban legend scares you the most? (most countries have such stories โ share yours if you would like to)
I can hardly think of any urban legends from my neck of the woods. There’s the “Beast of Bodmin Moor” I suppose, but that doesn’t scare me ๐ฎ
Youโre home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?
I would utilise my well-honed ninja assassin special forces training by running into the bathroom, locking the door and screaming out the window.

…and how fortunate to have a lock on the bathroom door!

I’m not sure how sturdy it is. Might buy me a couple of minutes…

The neighbors will just think you ran out of toilet paper again and fail to alert the police…

Just like in that parable “The Boy Who Cried Hygiene Supplies”…

Too funny! ๐ Maybe the footsteps were from your peripheral hearing. Good thing you are a highly-trained ninja; adept in all situations.

Sorry, no pithy comment: just a compliment that you never fail to deliver humorous responses. I look forward to these!

I am so glad you are not abusing the late night vistor by taking a threatening response. Just remember, when you scream out the window, use the lower register of your vocal range. The neighborhood will be listening, responding, and remembering… (Screams, once released, can never be taken back.)

I would probably whisper out the window so I didn’t disturb anyone…

Granny says it’s a great song with great lyrics about the Cavalry, Draliman, and I think we all would be in the bathroom ScreamingOutLoud when we here those footsteps, and as we don’t have a window in our bathroom, it probably scares the footsteps away…or makes us even more afraid๐ธDouble Pawkisses from us for you๐พ๐ฝ๐

I have to admit, I’m just not that easily spooked. We’ve got a lot of people — well four, but it feels like more — living here and a dog. There are birds and squirrels outside and everything tweets and makes noise of some kind. Footsteps? I alway assume is someone who lives here or the dog.

Lots of sounds around the place anyway then.

Yes, but it’s not loud. Just voices, music, footsteps and the occasional loud barking of someone’s dog.
