Sharing my World 09-10-2023
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Do you prefer a duvet, quilt or sheets and blankets on your bed?
Definitely a duvet. I hate being all squished in under sheets which are tucked in. Whenever I’m anywhere with sheets, the first thing I do is untuck them.
Despite much Googling, a duvet may or may not be the same as, or similar to, a “comforter” in the US. Though I’m afraid whenever someone says they use a “comforter”, the following image always pops into my head…
Do you sleep with one or two pillows?
There are two pillows but side-by-side, so technically I suppose the answer is one. Two pillows are too high, your neck ends up at a silly angle.
Do you prefer a single, double, or kingsize bed?
I don’t know about “prefer” – I have a double bed. Which, according to “the Google” is roughly the same size as a “full” bed in the US.
In the winter, do you have a hot water bottle or an electric blanket?
A hot water bottle, but I don’t take it to bed with me.
Fun question: have you ever slept in a hammock?
No. It looks fun to try, though I expect I would fall out and break something I need. Like my legs.

Thanks for joining in. I have similar ideas about comforters, but lean more towards them being heavy quilts. I’m Hubby’s hot water bottle that never goes cold thanks to my hot flushes, but he has extra blankets too as he really feels the cold. It was cold last night so my feet stayed well and truly under the covers!

It has suddenly gone all cold, quite a shock after the sudden heat wave we had ๐ฎ

It was really cold yesterday but has been rather pleasant today! We got washing dry outside and indoors it’s warm enough for the heating not to kick in. It’s supposed to get very wet, particularly in Scotland, from Wednesday through to the weekend.

Great answers! I love a duvet too! No tucked in sheets for me either!

I don’t want to feel trapped in my own bed ๐

I thought a comforter was the US version of a baby’s dummy!

I think that’s a “pacifier”, which actually sounds like something someone would call their favourite “hand cannon” ๐

That would certainly cure the problem of wailing children! (I may well be shot for saying that.)

Honestly, Iโve never seen anyone lying in a hammock except in vacation adverts for resorts or whatever!

Me neither. I think they’re made up, just for pirate films and holiday adverts!

I use the sheet you’re supposed to cover with as my blindfold from the sun since I sleep (mostly) during the day. I’ve never understood why people want to essentially be trapped in their own bed by a tucked in sheet. I wonder how many people have been killed in house fires because they could not escape their own comfy bed…

That would look great as a secondary cause of death on the certificate after “smoke inhalation” – “fatal sheet trappage”…

I’m the opposite (of course!). I must have a sheet with a blanket on top. I untuck them before sleeping on two pillows in a double bed. I never slept in a hammock but I fell out of one in an attempt to relax. ๐

Not as relaxing as you hoped then – I thought as much! They have a very dangerous look about them ๐

Since I answered “comforter”, I had to laugh at your Linus reference. It does fit. lol

Garry sprained an ankle — and that was more than 25 years ago. It’s really easy to fall out of a hammock. No effort required.

I suspected as much. Maybe some form of seatbelt is required.

Hammocks ARE fun!
Who sleeps with two pillows?
(Linus, that’s me)

I sleep with about four pillows… And a duvet, is necessary but it in winter..I do like feel free in bed as well.
I slept in a hammock before. There are some really large ones, that are quit safe. The risk is getting off n on. But other than that, they’re quite comfortable. ๐

It’s the mainly the “getting in and out” bit that worries me…
