Sharing My World 06-11-2023
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di. These questions were posed by Melanie last August – she sadly passed away this time last year after hosting SYW for many years.
Do you ever feel more excited about getting the package in the mail, rather than the item that’s in it?
Not really. Though it can be exciting wondering where the delivery driver will leave the package. Usually they knock on the door, but sometimes I get a “delivered” notification on my phone and I have no idea where the package is. This is why I got a doorbell camera. Once I saw the driver ignore the front door and go through the side gate out of view. He’d left it in my outside storage bin. I was right there waiting!
What is the difference between your ideal self and your real self? (i.e. what attribute or physical feature would allow you feel the ideal ‘you’?)
My ideal self has a smaller waist size, for a start…
If you found $2,000 on the ground and there were no witnesses, what would you do with it?
I’d feel sorry for the poor American tourist who dropped it… If it were pounds, I’d call the police and tell them. I have no idea where the nearest police station is which is open to the public, so they can come and get it if they want it.
Are you ever morally obliged to take action? Under what circumstances?
That depends on your own moral compass I guess. I’m assuming “take action” means actually doing something to help, rather than videoing the whole thing on your phone to post on YouTube later (other platforms are available)…

It was a storage bin for my garden tools etc but still… my Mum did find her package once inside her garden recycling bin, resting on top of the rapidly decomposing leaves.

Wow…I got made one time because they left my package at the bottom of the steps to my porch instead of delivering it to my door. lol

I think that an undisclosed side effect of the covid virus was to increase most people’s waist size, whether they caught the virus or not!

Thanks for joining in. Yes, parcels in wrong places. Our neighbours were away and a parcel was left on their doorstep. We went to take it in and it wasn’t even for them! A car pulled up outside and it was the rightful addressees. They were used to this delivery service dropping it at the wrong address which was why they’d insisted on notification on their phones when it had been delivered. Their phone number was also on the label so we could have called them to let them know. The driver was never taken to task either!

I found a package for my neighbours down a rarely-used back alley once. When I took it round they had already reported it lost and a replacement was on the way. It’s mainly these local Amazon delivery drivers, some of them seem to be allergic to front doors.

You can feel free to send those lost American dollars to me. I’ll make sure I find their true owner if I have to spend it at every store in the country…

I don’t think I’ve ever carried around $2,000 in cash, even doing the tourist thing!! Honestly, I’d feel as if everyone in the world could see emblazoned on my face: “There’s $2,000 in this old lady’s handbag!!!” Easy mark, me. 😅

True, it was probably dropped by a drug dealer or something who will be coming back for it. Maybe best not to touch it at all 😮

I’m definitely more excited about what I ordered than where the postman/driver leaves it. 🙂
