Sharing My World 01-01-2024

Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.

Did you stay up to see in the New Year?
I wasn’t going to but I wasn’t massively tired just after 11 so I decided I might as well. Just to see the clock tick over, then I went to sleep.

How did you feel the next morning?
About the same as any other morning. A bit tired but fine.

Are there any special occasions/events coming up in 2024 (weddings, special birthdays, babies)
Not that I’m aware of.

What was the highlight/s of 2023 for you?
I don’t remember any particular highlights. Years come and years go…

Yes they do, come and go. Sort of sounds sad, but that;s just life. As my friend says “It is what happens when you don’t die.”

I tried to explain that “years come and years go” philosophy to the overly cheerful co-worker who came in last Monday morning wishing everyone a Happy New Year and expecting a similar response. I was treated like the Worst Person In The World for not caring it was the start of a new year….

I was happy to say goodbye to 2023. So of course I stayed up to see the fireworks all over the world as 2024 began. 🙂

More and more people are more about saying goodbye to the last year rather than celebrating the start of the new one, I think 🙂

Thanks for joining in. We hadn’t intended to see the New Year in either, but people letting off fireworks from 11.30 put the kybosh on that (first batch went off at 6.44pm). Maya wasn’t too bothered though so that was a blessing, but we were unable to sleep for hours afterwards. Ho hum. Monday saw us shattered before we’d even got up!

I was lucky here – for the first year I can remember there were just a couple of muffled bangs earlier on but quite quiet at midnight.

Maya was OK with them, lifting her head in disinterested acknowledgement more than anything else.

I’ll remember finally getting COVID after a zillion vaccinations. It was a pretty mild case. Otherwise, a pretty unspectacular year.

We skipped New Year, Draliman, as we were all very tired after ten O’clock. Granny says it must be her age, so it must be ours as well…MOL…Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

That’s certainly too late for little kitties 🙂
