Sharing My World 08-01-2024

Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.

When you look out of your kitchen window, what do you see?
I see my little back garden, with the bushes and little bird table and the trees behind. Until a couple of days ago the bird table was iced over. I think it will be again next week 😦

When was the last time you used public transport?
A few months ago when I used the Park and Ride to get into town for work. For those who are in different countries and maybe call “Park and Ride” something different, that’s where you park at a huge car park on the outskirts of town and a bus runs every 10 minutes or so to take you into the town.

Do you prefer cut flowers or a potted plant?
Potted plants, though I’m not the best at keeping them alive.

Do you believe in Karma?
No. I’ve certainly seen no evidence of it.

We call them Ride and Parks….. get it right!!!

The only park and rides I know of are at the light rail stations. public busses have the stigma of being associated with poor people in America, so most of the hoity toity wouldn’t be caught dead riding one…

It’s much preferred to getting stuck in traffic trying to get into the town centre to find a parking space somewhere in a multi-storey car park – then wasting half your evening after work trying to fight your way out again!

We do have β€œPark and Ride” spots and a few years ago used one daily. Sounds like you have a very pleasant view out your kitchen window. Is a bird table one that contains bird feeders or a basin of water?

It’s a stone thing with a basin of water at the top. It’s quite well used by the local birds πŸ™‚

I recall a Park and Ride scheme was introduced at great expense to the local community where we used to live. It was supposed to ease congestion but people who had bought new houses that were alongside the site complained to the council. It was decided to use it as a Park and Ride for Christmas shoppers on the two weekends before Christmas. A large bank offered to ‘rent’ the space for the remainder of the year for their staff to park and a shuttle service to be provided. This was not entertained due to cost and red tape for the necessary qualifications and police checks for the bus drivers. Last we knew, it was vacant, not used at all, and dog walkers were using it to exercise their dogs.
    Thanks for playing along.

Yep, that sounds about right 😦 We’re having trouble here as the bus company involved is talking about pulling out as they’re losing money on it.

We had a bit of snow yesterday but by and large down here the temperature’s hovering around zero. By the weekend it’s supposed to be warmer, windy and wet again!
