Sharing My World 15-01-2024
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Do you use an air freshener in your home? If so, do you prefer a solid gel, spray, timed release, pot pourri or something else?
I’m not a big fan of artificial odours. I do usually use some scented carpet powder when I vacuum, though.
When good weather permits, do you open your windows to let in the fresh air?
Yes, it’s nice to have some fresh air in the house. I might even open a window today to let the cold air out – we’ve had a sudden temperature shift and it’s now reading a couple of degrees warmer outside than inside.
With the extreme variants in weather these days, do you feel the cold in the Winter months?
I’ve always felt the cold in the winter months, even before any extreme variations in weather. I’m the sort of person who ends up putting on a fleece even during the summer.
Which would you prefer – to curl up in front of a log fire or log burner, turn the heating up, or go to bed early with extra blankets.
Well, I would prefer to have the heating blasting out in a fully-insulated house and have a nice fire going. In reality, it’s fluffy dressing gowns, blankets, a duvet on the couch, hot water bottles and the occasional blast of heat when it gets too cold to feel my hands.

Never mind, I’m sure in a few months I’ll be complaining about how it’s too hot in the house 🙂

I’ve always thought it strange to scatter dust on a carpet and then hoover it up!

And when you open the windows, what happens? Sure, your house gets a bit warmer. But you ever so slightly alter the outside temperature, which could very well lead to catastrophic changes in the weather! You might cause a hurricane somewhere just because you wanted a little fresh air…

Somehow I always suspected that climate change started because I opened my windows too wide that day back in 1992…

Thanks for sharing your world. There is something rather nice about snuggling up under a blanket in front of the fire with a hot chocolate drink. Hubby has extra blankets and the hot water bottles, I just have the duvet and as warm as toast. We do miss the log burner in the cottage though.

We had a coal fire back when I was little, that was nice.

Us too. It was the only heating in the house other than an electric fire which was put on in the bedroom an hour before bed when we put the hot water bottles in as well, Loads of weight on the bed in the winter. It was reassuring.

The house being colder than outside happens where I am sometimes. But no matter how cold it is I must have the bedroom window open a bit. Can’t sleep unless the room is cold. 😀

Last night was the first I’ve slept in the bedroom for a couple of weeks – the change in weather sent it from 7C to 11C in there.

Mine was -3C. Perfect sleeping weather (with 3 blankets!) 😀

There’s such a thing as scented carpet powder? For real?

Yes, “Glade Shake ‘n Vac” is the most well known.

We’re always dressed for any kind of weather, Draliman. The older Granny gets, the colder she feels in Winter. We have a strange house, it’s always cold in the kitchen and warm in the living room, doesn’t matter if it’s Summer or Winter🙈Extra Pawkisses🐾😽💞

That is odd! I recommend keeping to the warm living room for your naps 🙂
