Sharing My World 31-03-2025
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Can you remember your first camera?
Yes, it was a little plastic thing. It took some weird size film, not standard 35mm, it was a sort of long cartridge. “120mm” rings a bell.
Can you remember when you had your first mobile phone?
Mid-late 90s. I don’t know who made it as it was branded “BT” (British Telecoms). I was the first person I knew who had one!
Can you remember your first car? If you don’t drive, can you remember your parents’ car?
It was a pale blue 1985 Ford Fiesta. Four gears. One litre engine. Not compatible with, or convertible to, unleaded petrol.
What was your first job as an adult?
I worked for three months at the local council when I was 18 in the IT department, earning some money before going off to university.

My second camera took 110 film. I remember it was the latest greatest when I got it.

I think I was about the same age actually.

Ah, the days when “regular” on the pump meant the gas was leaded…

Yep! We called it ” 4 star”, not sure why.

Thanks for playing along. I had a 126 cartridge and later a 110 cartridge camera as I could never get on with loading 35mm film. Now it’s all digital and I’m in with a chance of some decent photos!

35mm can be tricky to load. Digital photography was a game changer. Imagine being able to take 10 photos and pick the best one without having to pay for them all to be developed first!

I know! I took over 20 of Maya the other day and discounted half of them.

I had a 35mm camera but can’t remember the name. I was taking a photography class and learned how to develop photos. Ten years ago I bought a digital.
Then I finally joined the 21st century and got my first mobile a couple months ago. 😀

I do have a “proper” camera, but to be honest photos from phones are just as good and far easier to use and transport! I usually take my proper camera if I think I’ll be photographing more distant things as I have a couple of telephoto lenses.

You’re now officially the first person I know who had one back in the 90s. Congrats!

I was the first person I knew who had one too! I was commuting a long way and my girlfriend at the time thought it was a good idea just in case anything happened.

Granny remembers her first camera too, she was nine years old when she got it for Christmas. It was an Agfa camera and had a cassette inside so she could take 12 pictures…well…we hope they were better than these days…MOL…More Pawkisses🐾😽💞
