Sharing My World 12-05-2025
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di. It’s Di’s birthday week, so it’s birthday-themed this week.
Do you celebrate your birthday or is it just another day?
Me and my brother go over to Mum’s and have fish and chips. That’s it, really.
Did you have birthday parties as a child?
Yes, We sometimes went to the park with school friends to play football and then back home for birthday tea.
Were there any special ‘traditions’ for the birthday person in your household?
Not that I recall.
What was the worst birthday you had?
2022 – it was the day we lost Dad. No birthday celebration that year as you can imagine. And I don’t celebrate my birthday on my actual birthday any more.

Birthdays are always a big day, however as time goes by, my birthdays pass me by and sometimes I pass them by. Busy busy busy is our world.

Yes, they’re not such a big deal as when we’re kids, certainly.

I am so sorry for your loss, especially on your birthday.
My Dad passed away the day after my 40th birthday.
Thanks for joining in this week. Take care.

Thanks, I guess the day doesn’t really matter when something like that happens.

I guess not, time doesn’t seem to favour specific days, and things just happen. Just so sad though. My aunt passed away on Christmas Day last year. She’d celebrated her 100th birthday in June. My great great nephew was born on Christmas Day 2013.

Aww..I’m so sorry. I choose not to remember the date when either of my parents passed but instead celebrate the day they were born. I imagine that’s a little harder when it is your birthday.

That’s a good idea.

These days we celebrate at the first convenient date when we can get everyone in the family together. I think your worst birthday is the worst of all I’ve heard. I’m so sorry. That must have been awful.

There’s only three of us but we do the same – the closest day to the birthday when everyone is free.

I never did. I love celebrating other people’s birthdays, if that makes any sense.
