Sharing My World 03-11-2025
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
If you were offered “The Full English” what would you expect?
The moment I read this question my mouth started watering…
Fried or scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms and/or baked beans, grilled tomatoes, hash browns and/or fried bread and of course a mug of tea to wash it down! And probably some toast on the side.
How do you like your toast (with butter, jam, marmalade etc) ?
Lightly browned with butter.
How do you prefer your eggs?
Either hard boiled and cooled or fried.
If you have a boiled egg, do you like to dunk ‘soldiers’?
I rarely have boiled eggs, but I’d tend to eat the egg and soldiers separately.

Eating soldiers would get you shot in Amurrica where we idolize our veterans…

“Lightly browned with butter.” Each time i visit my dad he insists I eat the toast dry. I understand why. Butter has no value. But it is soooo good. I can’t stop.

I eat loads of stuff with no value. It makes some food more palatable.

I have never heard of “The full English ” before but your description sounds really good. Also what are soldiers?

“Soldiers” are strips of toast cut so that they can be dipped into a soft boiled egg in an eggcup.

Is french toast always sweet, like in America? Eaten with sugar/cinnamon?

Not that I’ve ever seen, it’s always been savoury when I’ve eaten it.

You make a soft boiled egg so the yolk is still runny, pop it in an eggcup, chop the top off and then you can dunk your “soldiers” (strips of toast) in the yolk 🙂
