Sharing My World 18-05-2026
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
Do you celebrate anniversaries for family members?
We usually get together at Mum’s house for birthdays and have a Chinese or fish and chips takeaway.
Do you prefer to receive a card for your special day or a social media message?
I’m not that bothered any more, but a card would be preferable. I usually forget to check social media anyway. I very rarely use it.
Do you think the cost of greetings cards are value for money?
Yes, in general. There are some very funny cards out there, someone has put a lot of thought and talent into that.
Do you look forward to mail deliveries on a day to day basis, not just a celebration.
No. Since the days of “personal” letters is generally over, it’s always either junk mail or bad news. And if not bad news, then stuff I’m not that bothered about.
I don’t want new double glazing. I don’t want new furniture. I’m not wanting to “quick-sell” my house. I don’t want to renew my car tax.
I’ll probably do that last one, though.

We get little mail of interest, just flyers for local takeaways (horrendous prices compared to what we’re used to!), someone touting for work, postal drops of advertising. Had a flurry last week with cards from friends though.
Thanks for taking part again, and have a good week.

I tend to get nothing for days and then a big sheaf of advertising.

Us too. They only deliver second class mail here every other day and not at weekends. First class and parcels are 6 days a week. We had 7 letters one day, 3 were bank statements (over a week after diary date), one a letter with an expiry that had passed, but we had already acted on it on a phone call, a pizza flyer, a postcode lottery invitation and one which was not for us at all. Most days we get nothing.
