Sharing My World 25-05-2026

Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.

It’s a Bank Holiday here in the UK, so a lot of us don’t have to go to work. Are you working today?
I wasn’t working last Monday Bank Holiday. I didn’t do much either, it was too hot. I went for a walk on the Saturday when the hot weather arrived, then again on the Sunday when the temperature rose to around 24/25C and was struggling after a couple of miles. Monday was up to around 28/29 degrees and that was just too hot – it rarely gets that hot here in the South West.

So I did a little bit of gardening in the morning so my garden bin was full ready for pick-up and then hid inside 🙂

What do you like to do on your days off (not holiday/vacation)
Walking, playing video games, stuff like that. I sometimes drive somewhere nice to walk.

Have you booked a holiday/vacation this year?
No.

Have you ever had a Staycation
That’s my “norm”. I went to Scotland last year. Though I guess that does count as a “different country” 😉

Thanks for sharing your world again this week. Scotland has some fond memories of camping for me………… like a cow trying to get in the tent, Dad locking the keys in the car and not realising until we were at the top of the Stirling Monument, paddling in Loch Lomand, handling a water vole so very gently to see what it was, my sister buying a leather coat from C&A on Princes Street, the view from the top of the Scott Monument.
We also house hunted there and learned some different definitions for ‘in need of modernisation!’
    Have a good week.

I guess “in need of modernisation” could be anything from central heating to needing to move the toilet indoors 🙂

Or even have one. Private water supply……… heap of dry stones: fitted kitchen had a tap and nothing else: best was the bathroom where the bath was too big, so they cut a hole in the wall to accommodate it and on the other side in the dining room, put a shelf over the end!!!

Scotland doesn’t count as a different country?

It is a different country but wouldn’t count as a holiday abroad. I guess it’s somewhat analogous to visiting a different State in the US.

Staycations are much less hassle and stress I reckon.
