Sharing My World 29-06-2026
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
What currency is used in your country?
The British pound (GBP).
If you travel to a different country, do you rely on card payments, or get some local currency in cash?
Last time I travelled to a different country, I used the same money, as it was Scotland 🙂 The time before, the same, as it was Wales! If I am in a country which uses a different currency I would probably use a card but would also have a decent amount of local currency just in case. If I were there a while I would probably get one of those local currency cards as well as that way you don’t get screwed by changing exchange rates and foreign currency fees.
Do you buy souvenirs for yourself or family?
I usually get a little something for members of my family.
When using an unfamiliar currency, are you aware of how much you are spending in your own?
To a certain extent. I just do a quick conversion on the fly. But if I’m away on holiday I’m not usually so bothered about how much things cost. You don’t pay hundreds/thousands of pounds to go somewhere amazing and then not visit anything because it was “a bit pricey”.

Good point. We can’t and shouldn’t be bothered by that at all.

It’s fine to go a bit mad on holiday, see and do everything while you’re there.
