Limerick Challenge – Tell Me a Story
I’ve missed the last few weeks but I’ve managed to put together a limerick for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Challenge this week.
This week the theme is “Tell Me a Story!” To read all the limericks, click on the blue froggy.
I have a whole story to tell
To fit it all in will be hell
‘Cos five lines are too few
So you’ll have to make do
With me saying it all ended well.
Limerick Challenge – Seasons
Here is my attempt at Mind And Life Matters’ limerick challenge for this week. The prompt word is “Seasons” and needs to feature all four seasons – in just five lines with all the rules limericks must adhere to – rhyming, scanning, line length…!
So I’ve ended up with one “dodgy” rhyme and a bit of slang. Oh well :-).
Click on the froggy for the linkup.
There are trysts in the Spring with a lover
And fun in the sun during Summer
But Autumn’s quite wet
And it’s quite a safe bet
Freezing Winter will be quite a bummer.
Limerick Challenge – Puddle Photo
Here is my contribution for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Challenge. This week we have a photo prompt to write a limerick about.

There once stood a girl in a puddle
Who was worried she’d get into trouble
‘Cos her shoes were soaked through
Jeans and anorak too
But once home all she got was a cuddle 🙂
Limerick Challenge – Fairy Tale
Here is my limerick for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge. This week, the subject is “fairy tale”! I don’t know many fairy tales, but I have chosen “Hansel and Gretel”.
Click on the blue froggy for this week’s other submissions.
“My,” Hansel said, “that’s so neat.
It’s a house you can actually eat!”
But they soon hit a glitch
When they met a dark witch
Though in minutes they had the hag beat!
Limerick Challenge – Trust
Here’s my limerick for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge. This week we had to incorporate the word “trust” in the first, second or fifth lines.
I had a few ideas but none of them panned out, and I’m only just recovering from being poorly (yay antibiotics!) so here’s a limerick about not being able to write a limerick about “trust”.
I wanted to write about “trust”
But the whole thing turned out quite a bust
The words wouldn’t come
Now the deadline is done
So I’ll publish this, just ‘cos I must.
Limerick Challenge – Future
Here is my contribution to Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge, which this week features the word “future”.
Click on the blue froggy for more!
If I could become future me
Just think of the wonders I’d see!
(Though I’d be very old
I could die from a cold)
So maybe I’ll just leave it be.
Limerick Challenge – Friendship
Here is my limerick for Mind And Life Matters’ limerick challenge. This week the topic is “friendship”, and we can write a limerick about a friendship with any person, animal or thing!
When I read that I knew what to write about and had it written within a couple of minutes :-).

Limerick Challenge – Antonyms
Here is my limerick for Mind And Life Matters’ limerick challenge. This week it’s all about antonyms, so at least one of our lines must contain antonyms. To read all the other entries, click on the blue froggy!
I don’t know my ups from my downs
Nor even my smiles from my frowns
But there’s one thing I know
(It’s a bit silly, though)
I’m horribly frightened of clowns.
Limerick Challenge – Time Travel
Here is a limerick I’ve written for Mind and Life Matters’ limerick challenge. This week’s prompt is “Time Travel“. To read this week’s other limericks, click on the blue froggy.
I had to cheat a bit by removing a couple of letters to make it scan properly 🙂
Trav’lling in time can be great
Though dangerous, ‘specially of late
If you travel too long
It can all go quite wrong
Then much worse than death is your fate!
Limerick Challenge Week 22
Here is my limerick for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge. This week, we have to start our limerick with the words “Once upon a time”.
This posed a challenge for two reasons – firstly, “upon” has too many syllables to make it read correctly, and secondly, I had no ideas! You have no idea how long I spent trying to rhyme “zombie”, “Abercrombie” and… something else. But I was determined to get a zombie in there somehow :-). Feel free to read “upon” as ‘pon if you’d like it to read better.
For this week’s other limericks, click on the blue froggy.
Once upon a time, I’ll explain
Lived a scientist, Igor by name
Sought his life to prolong
It went horribly wrong
Now he spends all his time eating BRAINS!
Mmm, yummy brains 🙂
