Sharing My World Week 51
It’s week 51 of Share Your World for 2014. I probably should have made an effort to do this one at the beginning of the week so that it was posted in the correct year, but never mind.
The questions are posed by Cee over at her Photography Blog.
Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
I love snow. It’s all magical and whatnot. But you can’t easily drive through it and I have an eighteen mile commute so unfortunately I’m going to have to say no to the snow.
If I didn’t have to drive in it, I would definitely like snow in the winter. We had snow a few years ago and that was actually okay, but then it froze and that was awful to drive on.
I should point out that where I live we rarely get snow and when it does snow it’s rarely more than a couple of inches.
So, you’re on your way out and it’s raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house?
I might have an “emergency” umbrella somewhere, I’m not sure.
Me and umbrellas don’t mix. I can’t control them, they blow inside out, they poke people in the eye. It’s a disaster. I have a little cap to wear in the rain.
Here’s a funny story which happened to my Mum a few days ago. She had one of those telescopic brollies and when she pushed the “open” button the end flew off and nearly hit someone :-). It must have been one of those KGB assassination brollies.
Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
Well, I definitely prefer to separate my main course and my dessert :-).
Otherwise, it comes as it comes. Some stuff is supposed to be mixed together, like stir fry, otherwise everything just goes on the plate and I eat it. A bit of meat, a bit of potato and a bit of veg on the fork. Into the mouth.
What is set as the background on your computer?

That was hilarious about your mom and the umbrella. 😀 Of course it wouldn’t have been funny if someone had been in the way. I agree with you about snow and ice. I mixed food together at the home of one of hy husband’s relatives once. She’s kind of a food purist and she almost had a fit. 🙂 — Suzanne

Yes, she was lucky. She then spent ages trying to force it into a rubbish bin 🙂
I guess it’s quite hard to un-separate food once it’s been all mixed together!

I’ve never felt very comfortable with an umbrella either…I’ve came close to knocking a few eyeballs out in my day. 🙂

I tried a golf umbrella once as they’re stronger, but the wind caught it and nearly dragged me in front of a car 😦

Interesting answers, thank you.
It doesn’t rain enough here to own umbrella, at easy for me. I like getting wet from the rain.
Your kind of snow is nasty but thick road blocking snow is awesome. It’s so quiet after the storm passes. The world is on mute.

At least if our snow blocked the road completely I wouldn’t be expected to try to drive to work in it. Much safer.

One of my Canadian friends on my other internet home used the word “brolly” before, so it may be more than just a UK term…
But I’m totally with you… an umbrella in my hands is a deadly weapon. I don’t own one, and if it’s raining, I just get wet…

That’s preferable to accidentally stabbing someone. Heh heh 😉

Where can I get one of those KGB brollies? I think I could find it quite useful 😉
(and for the most part I’m gonna say brolly is a UK term, just to put my two cents in on the discussion (I am Canadian – west coast – and we don’t use it here, yet I know what it is so that’s something right?

I think my mum has one 🙂
I love seeing how different slang terms, abbreviations and such differ all over the English-speaking world.
