St Nectan’s Glen
Here are the promised photos I took on my trip to St Nectan’s Glen. It’s not that far away, but the roads got smaller and smaller and there were lots of tractors, so it took a good while to get there.
First there was a pleasant walk along a little road.
Next up, a walk through woodland next to a stream.
The glen itself. There were lots of piled stones, ribbons on trees and little slates to write messages on.
The sun beams looked lovely filtering through the trees.
Finally, I switched the camera to a slow shutter speed and held it as steady as I could to make the water look a little bit milky.
I hope you enjoyed the photos of my little trip :-).

Loved them! In America… we have no places called glens. There are just ‘standing in the grass by a stream’ … But II love the places just the same!

Absolutely gorgeous. Actually, we do have glens. Watkins Glen comes to mind. Often also called gorge. It depends on the topography. It is beautiful, whatever you want to call it.

In our neck of the woods, on the East coast across from the pond, we call glens like this “coves” and tucked in out of the way places as they are, they are magical in their own unique ways – away from the hurly-burly. Places where time seems to stop just long enough before someone mentions grabbing a bite to eat and where’s the nearest McDonald’s 🙂

We have “coves” here as well, but they’re generally on the coast. “Glen” is usually associated with Scotland, but Cornwall and Scotland are both Celtic so I suppose we can have glens as well 🙂
The nearest McDonald’s to this place was a good hour’s drive!

It was a lovely day out. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the sunbeams through the trees, it made for such a great photo.

These photos are breathtaking.Just found this post of yours this morning and had to say!. I havent been getting round the blogesphere visiting lately due to busy factors on the home front etc (although I have kept up a bit of snatched posting), but now taking a moment to simply look at stuff and so delighted to see these wonderful pictures of yours.The rushing water , unique piled stones and craggy rocks, light and atmosphere are wonderful and so beautifully photographed! [The portal to your lovely place( first two photos….. the old hill drain and stone house) look so much like where I live and mooch around I thought for a moment you might have been here ] .

It is a lovely place. A walk along a little road, then into the woods and down to the glen. I’m glad you liked the photos, I’m having fun with my new camera!
I guess there are probably lovely villages all over England with little houses and hedgerows and so on. That’s nice to know 🙂
