Sharing My World 2016 Week 1
Here are my answers for Cee’s Share Your World.
As a child, who was your favourite relative?
Ooh, I can’t answer that, I might upset someone!
If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
I think maybe a cactus. I quite like the scenery in “cactus country” so I could just sit there all day admiring the view.
What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?
I would like to be awake before dawn. I’m more of a morning person and I always wake up quite early even if my alarm is not set.
Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?
Definitely underground. That sounds quite snug and warm while the tree nest sounds very exposed. I wouldn’t want to be up there high winds and driving rain. Of course, I’d have to be sure that my burrow has adequate drainage in case of those heavy rains!

Underground burrows are so popular these days, people are just dying to lay in them…. 😉

Yeah, I guess I’ll end up in a nice underground burrow at some point in the next 30 years.

I guess if you were a cactus, no one would mess with you. I don’t want to sleep or live in a burrow unless it’s a Hobbit hole. Good answers, Ali. 🙂 — Suzanne

A Hobbit hole would be very snug and cosy. Plus there would be second breakfast served!

I think I’d get bored being a cactus even though the scenery is marvelous.

Me too, probably. I guess if you want to see the world you’d need to be a tumbleweed 🙂

Definitely. And it’s much easier to get an internet cable in a burrow than a hundred feet up in a tree, I reckon 🙂

Wow! Your answers were not one the risk taking side this week. Life’s too short to be that safe! Where is the Jame’s Bond in you???

Life would be even shorter if I lived up in a tree I think!

Better not come nearby you, when you are a cactus, Draliman. The needles can hurt my sensitive nose…I learned that the hard way.. MOL 😀 When you have second thoughts about the burrow and choose for a nest, we could chatter around for days 😉 Pawkisses for a Happy Week 🙂 ❤

Ooh, that sounds like it must have hurt, cactus needles in your nose 😦
I think I’ll stay snug in my burrow. You could come visit 🙂

I agree with you that the “favorite relative” question seems to be a trap — you are wise to avoid answering! 😉

Yes, I thought discretion was the better part of valour on that one!

I’m such a night owl – as you’ve seen. Sometimes I make grand plans to greet the dawn. Even before I retired, I never did 😦 This is actually a goal of mine for 2016 – to greet one dawn.

I don’t get to greet the dawn much at the moment as I am already at work 😦 And it’s already dark when I leave!

I like the answers, Dr. Ali, even if they are “safe,” FWIW. Other than the prickly cactus one, which isn’t safe at all! You can have one of those tiny owls burrowing a nest into you, live around scorpions and snakes in the extreme heat (sometimes), then people are always looking to you as the one ‘wet’ thing in a desert. Then people are cutting off and using your spines (at least in human history). I don’t know; cactus doesn’t seem all that safe. If I had to be a stationary life form, I might choose to be a massive or elderly tree like a sequoia or maybe acacia (I think I’ve read the latter are long-lived, too).
On one hand, psychologically I feel better waking up early, but physically, not so much. I blame it all on my [hypothesis about] time of birth, ’round about 4 in the afternoon. I’m neither early nor particularly late, sooooo . . . I used to be more night-oriented, but then I’ve flipped around a lot in my life to deal with the (work, parenting) schedules-that-be. These days, I’m usually asleep by 9:30 or 10 (seldom stay up until 11 or 12 at night), then I’m awake between 6:30 and 8 a.m. How Edison and others survive on 3-5 hours of sleep regularly is really beyond me.

Oh no, you’ve ruined by cactus dream :-). Maybe being a protected species of tree would be a safer bet! I don’t much fancy burrowing owls or scorpions.
My “target” bed time is 10pm, then I read for 20-30 minutes before going to sleep. The alarm goes off at 0550 ready for work! 3-5 hours sleep is a nap for me, not a proper sleep 🙂
