Sharing My World 2016 Week 5
Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.
If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronic devices and things stored on them, people or animals), what would you put on it?
Special possessions that are not electronic devices? That makes it tricky.
There’s my Granny’s gong and candlesticks I requested when she passed away, now on my mantelpiece.

From Granny’s house
There are some Dr Who bits and bobs. Dr Who stuff is spread across multiple shelves.
And of course, “the lads”.
If you had a box labelled ‘happiness’, what would you put in it?
Memories of happy times. Or rather, copies of memories of happy times. As a backup in case I need to restart my head.
What do you want more of in your life?
Keep… it… clean… must… keep… it… clean… gnnnnnnn… Star Wars Lego. Phew, I did it!
Daily Life List: What do you do on an average day? Make a list of your usual activities you do each day.
On average, I’ll be at work, so…
- Wake up (0550)
- Complain a lot
- Have a coffee
- Make lunch and place in Dr Who Dalek lunch box
- Get ready for work
- Go to work (around 0655)
- Arrive at work (around 0720)
- Work
- Leave work (1700)
- Watch DVD/Netflix while having tea
- Watch more Netflix/Amazon Prime/play some PS4/do some blogging
- Go to bed (around 2200)
- Read for a bit and go to sleep
Thrilling stuff! And if you’re a nasty thief hoping to use this itinerary to rob my stuff, please remember to smile for the cloud-connected motion-sensitive infra-red security cameras.

Haha….better safe than sorry. Nice idea to put up that high tech security device. 😉
Also,Those candles sticks are really beautiful. I like how the you have placed them aesthetically on the table along with the gongs. Same goes for those soft toys.
Enjoyed reading the answers 🙂

I need to find some candles to put in my candlesticks! I always remember lunch time at granny’s when she’d ring the gong 🙂

The “lads” look cheery and snug and as if they couldn’t imagine being any place else! Very comfy indeed!

They’re sitting pretty up there on their shelf (which is in the bedroom, not the living room!).

I was going to swipe the lads and have them sit on my shelf with the ponies, but I guess that plan’s been foiled now by the stupid camera. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll just send Buster on that mission…

If you’re sending Buster, just give me a chance to wire up a motion-sensitive Gatling gun… if I film it, it’ll make a great competition entry!

Sounds like real life to me. Yup, that the way life is when you work. You work. You come home. You watch some TV, catch up on email etc., try to get some sleep before you do it again. Life in the FAST LANE! Woo hoo.

Got to ask…. why did Grandma have a gong? (And “no”… I will not slam your stuffed action figures!)
LikeLike
Big old houses often had a gong to announce that dinner was ready. Nowadays you just yell “Oy, dinner!”
Quite right too. The slamming of stuffed “action figures” is not allowed 🙂

Sweet! LM got a Lego Rey’s Speeder from us at his birthday party tonight and had it completed before he went to bed. He’s hoping to get an X-Wing with his bday money. 🙂

Soon I’ll have an “original” X-Wing which I bought decades ago and a new one! Darn expensive, though, £70 ($100) 😦

Whew! Little Man might have to save two birthdays worth of money for that 😀

Have you captured a ghost in your camera? Or anything that does not seem human? Do write a post of any such experience… Hello to your stuffed toys and lego😀

Sadly I have yet to capture the supernatural on my camera 😦
The stuffed toys say “hello” back! The Lego can’t talk.

Thanks so much for sharing. Loved seeing your collections, and the candlesticks and gong from your Granny moved me.

Those were the things I particularly wanted when granny passed away. We always used to love banging the gong at dinner time when we were kids!

I love the Star Wars Lego and the lads are great. 🙂 I also like your security system. I might have to look into something like that when I get my own place again.

The camera was only about £150 (YCAM/HomeMonitor), emails me if it detects motion and records a video. You can also view the live feed from anywhere. It makes me feel a bit more secure about my house when I’m out.
I like my Lego and stuffed toys (all the doggies are Andrex puppies!) 🙂

Eek, I’m sorry you have to have the security video. Would love to see your Who and Star Wars/LEGO collections, tho’. But this, this takes the awesomeness cake: [If you had a box labelled ‘happiness’, what would you put in it?] “Memories of happy times. Or rather, copies of memories of happy times. As a backup in case I need to restart my head.” Sounds like you need one of those Red Dwarf dream recorders, too (ever seen that episode; well, they’re probably in more than 1, but . . .?). Cool answers, and you kept it clean. Good on you! 🙂

I actually live in an almost crime-free area, but it makes me feel better :-). I have shelves of Dr Who DVDs and Blu-rays – new and “classic”. I had hundreds (literally) of videos once, but sadly the days of VHS are long gone.
A Red Dwarf dream recorder would be awesome. Especially if it had a rendition of “Tongue Tied” on it! Of course, if I were Kryten instead of restarting my head I could simply switch to Spare Head Two 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed my answers!

Yeah, the Kat’s “Tongue Tied” song grew on me over time. That was such a super show; there’ll probably never be another sci-fi comedy of its like and quality! Those dudes worked so well together (and Kochansky, in the later seasons, of course; I’m sure I’m misspelling her name, tho’). Is Colin your favorite doctor? My husband’s is Tom Baker. I can’t decide. 🙂

Red Dwarf was one of a kind, for sure.
I’m not sure who my favourite Doctor is either. They all have something different about them. Of the classic series, Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and Peter Davison. Of the new series, well, it has to be David Tennant 🙂

Yes, I’ve still got bits from one of my grandma’s. We never saw much of the other one when we were young (Dad’s mum) so didn’t really know her.
