Sharing My World 2016 Week 42
Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.
If you wanted to de-clutter where you live, what room / space would you start with? (And why, if you’re feel like admitting to it.)
Either my bedroom or my living room table. My bedroom has boxes of paper work from years ago which need shredding really. Maybe one day I’ll get around to it. As for my living room table, that’s where post and such goes. Then it’s supposed to get thrown away, shredded or filed but I never seem to get round to it more than once every few months.
If you want to remember something important, how do you do it (sticky note on the fridge, string around your finger, etc.), and does it work?
I pop it in my Google calendar. That’s in the cloud so it syncs across my phone, home computer and work computer. I always set it up with notifications and email alerts, so yes, it can’t help but work. I get constantly bombarded from multiple devices until I do whatever it was.
For more general things I make a list.
If you could create a one room retreat just for yourself, what would be the most important sense to emphasise: sight (bright natural light, dim light, etc.), hearing (silence, music, fountain, etc.), smell (candles, incense, etc), touch (wood, stone, soft fabrics, etc.), or taste (herbal tea, fresh fruit, etc.)?
What am retreating from? I live on my own in a quiet spot so my whole house is my retreat, really. I suppose if that wasn’t the case I would try to exclude all outside noise.
If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be (if you know their name) and what would you ask?
I only knew my two grand mothers. I guess if we’re going back even further I’d want to know all about their life.

I pile all of my junk mail on the counter next to the microwave (Since it’s the closest place to dump crap by my front door), so right now there is a huge pile of mostly political mailings sitting there. Every once in a while, that pile of card stock propaganda comes in handy…. like when one of my cats pooped on the floor the other day. I finally had a reason to thank a political candidate for being useful!

Maybe you could write them a nice letter commending them on the absorption coefficient of their mailings.

I’d do that…. but I can’t tell which is the politician’s face and which is the poop stain…

I don’t use Google Calendar but I do use one that came with my iPad and it is really handy in helping me remember things. Especially since I can’t rely on my memory anymore.

I have no more table space left so I have a small area near the recycling bin. The pile seems to increase in size over night!

It’s weird how that happens!

We have a table like that too. I try to keep up with it but the junk mail comes in such great quantities.

Fortunately I can just chuck that straight in the recycling. It’s the bank statements and stuff that I never get around to shredding…

Google calendar is also my rememberer. It not only syncs all the devices and sends alert, but I set it up so Garry and I share a calendar so we know about each others’ appointments and don’t double book.
Our house is also our retreat. It’s just us and the dogs, so we really don’t need to retreat. Home is a retreat. And now that we’ve gotten the phone service that stops those robotic calls, ahh, the delightful peace!

In other words, your Google calendar nags you. No wonder it works. We may hear in future you’ve divorced it for mental cruelty. 😀 — Suzanne

I would de-clutter my living room coffee table because it is piled up with all sorts of magazines and videotapes and more by my husband. Sometimes I just ignore and you could guess how high that pile would go up!

I know how high as my coffee table is already stacked up!

Granny says that it must be a man’s table…she always has to clean the table from Grandpaw’s mess, but Grandpaw says ‘we have to live in the house, right?’, so Granny can understand it too, if only she could live with it…MOL 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤

It’s at least necessary that it contains remote controls and video game controllers 🙂

My husband burned a huge trashbag full of our personal papers last week. Amazing how it piles up so quickly!

Yeah, I need to be more proactive with the shredder but it’s far easier to just chuck it on the coffee table.
