FF – Charred Yet United
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was provided by Karuna.
We have an election coming up in the UK next week, and I urge you guys to give this bunch a chance!

“My fur, my lovely fur, gone, gone…”
“This will not do!”
“Maybe it was an accident, Furry?”
“So little Tommy accidentally siphoned petrol out of his dad’s car, inadvertently doused us with it and then carelessly dropped a match on us? No, Cuddly.”
“What about me? My head’s all twisted backwards!”
“Indeed, Dolly. Shocking! We must take action.”
“Yeah!” broke in Cuddly. “Maim, kill, destroy!”
“No, we stand for government. We have one direction, united!”
Vote for justice for our cuddly friends. Vote Stuffed Toys – One Direction!
“Isn’t that a pop group?”
“Hush, Dolly.”
“Doesn’t that shorten to ‘STOneD’?”
“Hush, Dolly.”
I would vote for these charred cuddly toys any day! 😁

I’d vote for cuddly toys! They would probably do a better job than some people! 🙂

Giggles… they might do a better job, eh.

Their manifesto is simple and honest. Vote STOneD!

If it shortens to STONED, I’m DEFINITELY for it! Vote STONED!

Their party name may inadvertently get them many votes!

Ha-ha, my mind saw “STD” before it saw or realized “Stoned”! Or maybe Stuffed Toys-Une Direccion (STUD?). Cute riff with some underlying snark and seriousness to it; I like it, Ali.

Indeed, Ali. We need more toys in government. They couldn’t do much worse than some of the people elected. Good writing. 🙂 — Suzanne

Bear with the bears and they will bare all in honesty, as only bears can.

Hehe, disasters and enemies are the best tools for politicians to earn votes, isn’t it… Great piece!

I’ve missed you, doc, but I still can’t type for a long at a time.

These stuffed toys would get my vote. They make a lot more sense than some we must choose between. Great dialogue!

Mine too. I hope I can find them on the ballot paper! I’m glad you liked it 🙂

Ha! Ha! Little Tommy was probably trying to find that spark in their relationships. The toys must be in the public service, they will probably set up a committee to discuss action points.
LikeLike
Ha, “spark” 🙂
I’m guessing their first action point will be to address the availability of matches to the under-tens.

So funny. Absolutely love Furry’s indignation. Great characterisation as ever and very clever slogan. If I hadn’t already sent in my postal vote, I might have been tempted.
