Godrevy in High Zoom

I took a little trip to Godrevy to try out my new zoom lens. It’s an Olympus 75-300mm (150-600mm equivalent on my Micro 4/3 camera). I don’t have a tripod so I wanted to see how things went. Obviously I usually wouldn’t use a big zoom for landscapes but it did a good job of the flowers and I could barely see the helicopter or seal with the naked eye πŸ™‚

Also, I know the white balance is off. My camera warned me about it but I don’t know which of the million buttons to push to do that so I left it alone.

Here’s a seal on max zoom. He’s there on the rock πŸ™‚

That’s one of the lenses I’ve been thinking of getting. It looks pretty sharp. I’ll have to look for a good second-hand one.

I just got (used, but in great condition) the 12mm f2 wide angle and have been delighted with it. Very little distortion and sharp, edge to edge.

I was surprised they came so well considering it looked like I was shaking like you wouldn’t believe through the view finder. Mind, the shutter was set very fast.

I have no idea what any of the buttons on my camera do, so when something gets out of whack, it just stays out of whack. I’m sure I would have missed that seal, and I’d have never spotted him without your helpful prompt!

I didn’t see him either until someone else pointed him out to me!

I know nothing about zoom lenses whatsoever but your photos are stunning, so I’d say it’s working brilliantly. How great to be able to photograph a seal. We didn’t manage to get to Godrevy when we were in the St Ives area, and it seems we missed out there. The rocky headland looks fabulous. Another time, perhaps. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos! πŸ™‚
