FF – Unethical Productions Ltd

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Marie Gail Stratford.

“The last flower on Earth. Already dying. That’s why we at Save The Beautiful But Endangered Bees rely on your donations… no! The planet relies on your donations to save our pollinators…”

“Cut!”

“What’s wrong?”

“There are living flowers in the shot. We need to…”

Bzz! Bzz!

“Eek! A bee! A bee!”

“I thought your charity loved…”

“Kill it before it stings me!” (Flail! Thwap! Stomp! Stalks away angrily.)

“Wow. Not a great advert for his charity. Tell me you got that on film.”

“Yup.”

“Great. It’ll be perfect for our other charity client, Kill The Nasty Noisy Vicious Bees.”

I wonder how many people know that without the bees, we don’t have food to eat? Oh well. We’ll eat polyester. Save me the poly. You can have the ester.

Chance would be a fine thing. In the 70s we were plagued by bees. Now I see maybe 10 a year.
I’m glad you liked my story! And no, I don’t kill bees 🙂

The best way to kill a bee is to let it sting you. You’d think a charity that specialized in the genocide of bees would know such a fact…

    Dear Ali,

I love honey and flowers. However, if a bee landed on me I might very well have the same reaction. Love the irony. 😀

      Dear Rochelle,
I tend to go very still when buzzed by a bee. Get small and don’t appear a threat 🙂

On a more serious note (*putting on serious face*), your story brings up the important fact that video footage can easily be used to promote one’s one agenda. Good one!

So funny and so cynical – the film crew at least. I think anyone fronting up for a charity should try to abide by its beliefs, so no bee-scaredy-cat actors required for this ad.

Love the two-sided approach. No bit of film is ever wasted, it seems. I love bees but I know a few people who would do the ‘Thwap! Stomp! ‘ bit if one came near. Bee stings are painful, though. I had one when I was four. I wondered whether I could squash a bee on the window, and it didn’t seem to like the idea. 🙂

Bees were so common in the 70s my Mum used to trap them in a jam jar with water in the bottom. Millions of the things, there were. Now I hardly ever see one 😦
