Sharing My World 2018 Week 12
Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.
What is your earliest memory?
I have a very vague memory of my brother’s birthday, which was announced on the TV on a little segment called Gus Honeybun’s Magic Birthdays. Gus, a puppet, would do a handstand or whatever was asked of him. I was about four or so at the time I guess.
Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?
Over! Over, I say. Here, once again, is the original patent for the toilet roll holder. Note, “over”.

Picture via cnet.com, but since it’s a patent I’m assuming it’s public domain
What makes you feel grounded?
Being out for a walk in nature, I suppose. I spend most of my life either at work or lost in TV/vide game/book-induced fantasy. Reality is overrated, I find.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?
My friends’ oldest, who has a birthday next week, named me as being someone he wants at his birthday tea š

These “under” people are sorely mistaken. Where do they get their crazy ideas? š

Awww that’s sweet that your friend’s son wants you to attend his birthday tea.

I thought so too š That’s two of the kids who have invited me to their birthday teas. The four-year-old doesn’t get a choice (yet).

And when he does have a choice, I’m sure he’ll still invite you š

I had to go see what Gus Honeybun looked liked…
I’m not sure how he did his handstands without revealing the “magic,” but I feel deprived now that he never announced one of my birthdays…

Yay, that’s him! We watched him every evening as kids. For the handstands he kinda just flipped upside down in a sort of “cartwheel” direction so I guess someone was holding him from behind, rather than up the behind.

Is Gus Honeybun single?

I believe he is. I heard he fell on hard times after he was cancelled, though. He’s not the bunny he once was š¦

Yes, the toilet paper goes over! I agree; reality is seriously over-rated.

That’s a good first memory to have – having a brother worthy of a TV mention, and clever to top and tale this post with birthdays – I hope you enjoyed your tea this week. On the toilet rolls, under is much neater(?).

I remember us sitting in front of the Radio Rentals B&W set waiting so see if his name was going to come up š
The birthday tea is tomorrow evening. It’ll be nice!
Under? Under you say? Humph š

Ah, Radio Rentals, what a trip down memory lane that is. How old’s your friend tomorrow? It might make for a fun few minutes trying to explain renting a telly.

He’ll be twelve š
Renting a telly doesn’t even sound like a “thing” to me, but everyone did it.
