FF – Hobby
Here’s my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Jean L. Hays.
Just a silly little one this week.

“Ooh, what shall I sew?”
“Ugh. Another fad.”
“Hey, men can sew too!”
“Yep. But remember last time? You bought sixteen cookery books and never even managed beans on toast. Come on, I’ve arranged a hobby you’ll love!”
They entered a room. Huge TV, sound system, home cinema, games console, and who’s that on the sofa? Yes, yes it is…! Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, beckoning, beckoning…
Hey, wait a minute.
This is a dream, isn’t it?
Disappointed, draliman woke up, determined that today he would conquer beans on toast. Possibly, if he were feeling adventurous, with cheese on top 😊
Today beans on toast. Tomorrow chateaubriand

Ha ha – you should definitely add the cheese and pop it under the grill. Fun story!

No matter how improbable, beans on toast is much more likely than that other dream. Quite fun.

You will manage it today… if not you can eat cold beans out of the can.

Dear Ali,
Sorry about that in home cinema and all…enjoy your beans on toast. 😉
Of course men sew. My grandfather was a tailor and made all my mother’s clothes when she was a girl. 😀

Dear Rochelle,
I did quite well at sewing at school! Beans on toast, here I come 🙂

Beat an egg, add it to the beans and cook gently like you would scrambled eggs. Serve on toast for a filling breakfast…or dinner…or lunch. Easy and delish. 😀

Ooh, that sounds yummy, thanks 🙂

And here I thought Chef Draliman was already the master of pizza… and he can’t even do beans on toast? Bah!

Those beans can be tricky, and getting the toast just right? Impossible.

Nothing wrong with beans. Especially cold beans. Good one.

Beans on toast are a healthy meal – just eat an apple for dessert.

This feels very familiar. Each of us has our momentary enthusiasms and epic failures, resulting from our inability to stick With it. A way Nature has, of moving us along to the next thing!

Those girls, I’d like to meet Drew Barrymore, not sure about the others, but always add a little butter and curry powder to BOT, thats my advice! Good stuff and delightfully stereotypical of us males!

Yeah, that would spice things up a bit! Am I talking about Drew or the beans there, you decide…

So sorry for the disappointment. Unfortunately, too many of us wake up to reality.
Which is why I only write in fiction, I never have to wake up. ;0)

Wow, philosophical. Nice line. Skip the “sometimes.” The rest makes for a great mission statement.

Men can certainly sew, though I’ve not met many. Beans on toast is definitely manageable and sounds tasty to me, especially with the cheese on top. Fun story!

I can sew simple repairs but rarely have the need. I learned beans on toast with cheese at university, as many did 🙂

I liked the second option with TV better. Why does Draliman want to go back to cooking?

Sadly the TV option was but a dream.

You realised you were dreaming, so you should’ve tried to continue dreaming and control the outcome. Isn’t that what lucid dreaming is all about? 😉
Good luck with beans on toast. 🙂

I used to be able to lucid dream, back when I was a kid. I used to wake myself up to prove to people in my dream that it was a dream… I could have had much more fun as an adult 😉

You woke yourself up to prove to people in your dream that it was a dream? Right… makes perfect sense… not. 😁
