FF – Three in One
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Fatima Fakier Deria.
I’ve written three potential stories this week. In 100 words! Because I was out of ideas.

Sammy placed a sandwich in his lunchbox, grabbed his briefcase and left the house, smartly dressed as always. He reached the financial centre, sat on his usual bench and propped up his sign – “Hard worker, please hire me!”
Choose the ending!
- Sammy is spotted by a financier who, impressed by Sammy’s ingenuity, offers him a highly-paid job!
- Sammy is spotted by the manager of the local fast food joint and spends the next forty years flipping burgers!
- Sammy is spotted by no-one and dies three years later, unfortunate victim of a ”drug deal gone wrong”!
You decide!

#1, of course! I love a happy ending! 🙂

Yay, me too 🙂 No wait, that doesn’t sound like me… 🙂

I hope for #1 but the likely one is #2 with the following addition.
At the hamburger joint Sammy meets the love of his life, Rita. They marry and build a happy family.
Then actually I think #1 could end up as #3… going up quickly and falling deeper down.

Hey, that sounds like a cool and more plausible ending!

I’ll go with 3

The financier, serving part time at the burger joint, asked him “Do you want coke with that?” and he went home penniless!

But… did he want Coke with that? 🙂

#4 Sammy becomes a mime, the mime is seen by Oprah while she’s passing in her limo, and she makes him the star of his own TV show, “American Mime’s Got Talent!”

Yeah, I like that a lot 🙂

Dear Ali,
Number 2 is the most likely. I like number 1 the best. Good luck, Sammy, you’re going to need it. Although here he could become a successful panhandler.

Dear Rochelle,
I think you’re right about number 2. Though as you say he does have a backup career all ready and set up 🙂

Has to be number 1 because with so much negativity in the news, I want to think happy thoughts. 🙂

#3 for me. It’s just been that sort of day… Enjoyed your twist on the FriFic 🙂

Yes, if I’d had to choose the ending I would have gone for number 3. But I thought that sounded too randomly nasty so I decided number 1. But that sounded too randomly good. So I wrote hem both!

Number 1, it takes guts to get up and show up.

It does indeed. In fact I’m pretty sure this tactic worked for a chap a few years ago.

Haha I found this week a challenge too.
I liked the pick your own ending.

I honestly couldn’t decide on one myself 🙂

I shall choose option number 1. Sammy was dressed properly and if nothing else he may be able to do photocopy.

Yes, I reckon he deserves something. So many people don’t make an effort even at a proper interview.

All three. Sammy got a highly paid job flipping cannabis burgers and got run over by a bus whilst doing a home delivery!

Ha ha, nicely merged! I wondered why my teatime high hadn’t arrived…

Ingenious Ali —– perhaps number one, til he experiences a messy divorce and end up in the gutter ?

That sounds like a realistic compromise!

Ooh… I get to choose! 🙂 I’m a realist, so definitely number 2.

Sounds the most likely answer, sure enough 🙂

I think #3 is probably more realistic, but why couldn’t it be #1 made a little more believable by the financier giving him a job, watching him for two or three years, and giving him a juicy raise and a promotion?

That could definitely happen. You wouldn’t want to stick him straight in the VP’s chair!

I like ending number 2! xxx

It’s probably the most likely! Apart from not getting a job at all.

I found the choices of endings people made in the comments very interesting and entertaining. I would have chosen 1 or 3, depending on my mood.

Me too. Those were the endings I was pondering before deciding to let my readers decide 🙂

Def #1…everyone’s fantasy!

It could happen!

Well … #1 is too much of a fantasy. I know things like that can happen but …???
#2 … I don’t think Sammy would want to flip burgers. He wouldn’t wear a suit if he did.
#3 … as tragic as this # is, I think it showcases what can happen to someone seeking a job and not finding one in enough time to save his life from falling into a downward spiral.
Hope you like my choice.

I think the third answer, Draliman…it’s impossible to find a job nowadays..but, wait, how about that drugs🤔better I give him the benefit of the doubt and chose one as lucky answer😺Pawkisses for a Happy Day🐾😽💞

Fingers crossed for number one 🙂

I’d go for a middle way between two and three. He gets the burger-job, and has to sell drugs because of his shit salary. So, three years of burger flipping will be it.

Sounds like he’s on the up-and-up! Two jobs and all, he’s finally made something of himself…
