Sharing My World 25-11-2019

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

What did you have for dinner last night?
It was Saturday evening so I had sausages, baked beans and fried egg with a couple of slices of bread and butter. I usually have something like that on a Saturday while I watch a film. Yesterday I watched “White House Down” again.

Would you rather go out on a Saturday night or stay in?
I would rather stay in. If I really had to go out, Friday and Saturday would be the days I’d least like to do it as they’re more likely to be busy out.

How are you, truthfully?
One day I’d love to answer that question properly when asked in the morning at work. It’s standard in the morning – “how are you?”, “how was your weekend?” etc etc. Imagine their surprise if you actually launched into an actual full and truthful answer rather than saying the standard “fine thanks, you?” Heh heh.

What’s the best topping/ice cream combination? If you don’t eat ice cream, what’s your favourite combination dessert?
I quite like vanilla ice cream by itself. It’s nice with strawberry topping too. I also like chocolate ice cream, fruity ice cream, mint choc chip ice cream… I’ll just say “I like ice cream”, I think.

I’m grateful I forgot it was Black Friday pretty much all day so I didn’t feel tempted to spend any money on “cheap” crap I don’t need.

Amazon had Black “Friday” all week. It’s a bit like Christmas. The longer the build-up, the less special and exciting the actual day is, to the point where I just forget about it.

These days like “Black Friday” put me off buying. Like you, I just don’t like to be talked into buying stuff I don’t need. I’ve moved a lot and it’s just more stuff to either get rid of or drag along. There is some stuff you can’t even give away. I once had to dump a lot of stuff on the lawn to be picked up by a small truck that used to come around for that purpose. They probably donated or sold it to a secondhand shop somewhere in the city. —- Suzanne

Your dinner sounds great — I might copy the menu for breakfast this morning! We had mac & cheese. 🙂
I’m sorry to see that even you Brits get socked with that Black Friday stuff. If an ad pops in my In-Box and says “Black Friday” anything, it’s instantly deleted. As a Canadian, I will NOT DO Black Friday and hope we never get into that madness. Some try, but their attempts so far have fizzled into “just another sale.”

It suddenly arrived, was very big for a couple of years and is now trickling away, at least offline.

Excellent answer on the Black Furriday, Draliman. I think when they make purrices like in America, Granny will take a look at it, but here they first make the purrices higher than usual, and then they get it back to normal and tell you that it is cheaper….but you can’t fool this cat😺Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday🐾😽💞

The consumer magazine Which? tracked prices throughout last year (I think it was) and I think it was only 1 in 6 “deals” they looked at were actually bargains.

Ice cream every day would be nice!
I have often been tempted to answer the “How are you?” truthfully more often. I did a couple times. Both people were so shocked they pretended as if I had said “fine”. 😀

I can only imagine. I don’t generally ask because I don’t really want to know 🙂 That’s “small talk” for you…

I notice you said that you’d like to someday really answer the question of how you’re doing honestly — but then you didn’t!

I know what you mean about not going out on the weekends because everyone else is out and it’s crowded. But then I try going out on a weekday and am exhausted the next day at work. So it’s pros & cons, either way.

      Yeah, pretty sneaky, huh? 🙂
There is the “tired at work” issue, but I’ll still only go to the cinema midweek!

I’m such an old fogey now that when I do go out to the movies, I prefer the matinee on the weekends. If a movie doesn’t start until 7:30 or 8:00, why, I’ll be up past my bedtime! 😀

I always feel weird getting ready to go out when I’m usually thinking about beddie-byes 🙂

Amazon pulled that same “It’s Black Friday!” stuff with me, and for their trouble earned my boycott of their company during Christmas. I loathe the whole commercialistic attitude anyway, and being by myself with nobody to buy gifts for any longer, I’m just not going to participate! Like Amazon cares, right? Billion dollar corporation and all. Thanks Alistair for Sharing Your World! Your dinner sounded great, but those beans? Woo whee. A reason to celebrate my aloneness because the air? Can be thick sometimes. 😉 Have a great non-Black Friday week! 😀

    I always say “I’m fine”.
When i was five I was in a horrific car accident. A man I did not know was holding me and my chin was on his shoulder, while waiting for help to arrive. A little girl, about my age was in the crowd. I had bitten my tongue off except for a “thread”. She asked me how I was and with half my tongue literally hanging out of my mouth I said “I’m fine”.
    I’m always fine.

    “How was your weekend?”
“I mostly jerked off to porn, thank you. And you?”
