Sharing My World 05-10-2020
Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
When was the last time you tried something new? How did that go for you?
I was going to say “I don’t know, I don’t like ‘the new'” but then I realised – the Block Editor! I know everyone seems to hate it, but I can actually put a post together faster. All the functions I need are right there in the little menus.
So, quite well!
What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?
I’m not sensible enough to remember sensible things that sensible people say.
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
7,402.
Have you ever seen a ‘fresh’ corpse (aka dead body)?
I’ve never seen a corpse, fresh or otherwise. I know there’s a religion where the recently deceased can be viewed at the funeral, but there’s no way I’d want to see that, or for my empty shell to be seen once dead.

It was, that’s quite the memory you have there, and thanks! The candles are a bit of an issue at my age…

I like the phrase empty shell!
Also – glad the block
Editor works for you – I think it depends on the blogging style of the person

That’s pretty much how I view what’s left.
Yes, I do quite simple posts so the block editor works fine for me.

Where I come from, you get to see corpses a lot, and I’m telling you it’s rather disturbing. Something you don’t and can’t forget.

And yes, I hate the new editor! How can you not?

I’ll be happy if I never see a corpse.
I initially hated the block editor, but after a couple of posts I realised how much faster it is. And I don’t need to do anything flashy for my posts. For text, just type. To add an image, instead of “add image”, just add an “image block”. It’s actually the same thing with a different name.

Not for me. I hate its guts.

I’m sensible enough to remember that you said something sensible about the Block Editor 🙂
I’m getting more used to it and also put together a post faster yesterday.

Yes, the same stuff is there and works in the same way, but the menus are easier.

Very thoughtful Share Your World Alistair! Thanks for joining in! I’m glad you’ve not had the (extremely dubious) pleasure of seeing a corpse. It’s maybe of the most over-rated things a person can do. (I’ve only seen one freshly dead…the rest were embalmed and in their coffins..) That question was a tad morbid too, on second thoughts. Thanks for a little humor with my morning tea… and you simply MUST SHARE how you came to enjoy that Block Editor. Because you’re the first to say something positive about it, although a few people I follow have said they’ve adapted to it, as have I.

As far as I can see, the block editor does the same stuff in the same way, you just have to find your favourite features in the menus. It took me a while to find “categories” and “tags”, but they’re in the settings cog, so all good!

Yes, though I’m surprisingly resistant to change, considering my job 🙂

I was recently talking to someone about hiring me for a job. It was only one day a week so would fit into my schedule nicely ( I only work part time now, as it is). It required me to know Quick books and I have never done that kind of work but I worked for 25+ years in a dying industry that changed software constantly, so i told the guy i was sure I could learn. I couldn’t believe that i was volunteering for that, cause i hate learning new software… at least until I know it. Doesn’t matter, he never called me back. lol

I definitely wouldn’t want to have to learn new software “on demand”, I’d rather have a bit of time without a new boss looking over my shoulder…

Yes, that was my ultimate conclusion as well and why I didn’t pursue it further. He is looking for someone for only Wednesdays, 8 hours, and Wednesday is my day off. I thought it was a good fit, in that way. But who needs the stress? Not me!

I know, right?! It’s just me! I bet just as I really get going on it, they’ll get rid of it due to “general dislike within the blogging community” 🙂

So I guess it’s from the death bed to the crematorium for you. My husband wanted to give his body to science but a doctor in his family said he was too old. I guess in India they can get enough younger bodies. They don’t need the body of someone in his mid-eighties. —- Suzanne

Yeah, I don’t want to be lingering around the place afterwards…

I actually found a dead person once, walking my dog late at night. She was lying face down in an alley, in her pyjamas. I realized she was dead when I saw her leg had burst open, but it wasn’t bleeding. She seemed to have jumped from the roof or something. I walked by the same place just a minute before, so I guess I was lucky I didn’t see her fall.
