Sharing My World 09-11-2020
Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not?
I’m not a big fan of surprises. I like to know what’s coming so I can sort out my reaction in advance. I wouldn’t want to go into shock or burst into tears or whatever, that would never do π
Whatβs your favourite zoo animal?
I’ve not been to a zoo for many years, and I’m not a big fan of animals being in zoos. They’re not as bad as they used to be of course with the tiny cages they used to have. I quite like the penguins.
What three things do you think of the most each day?
Hahaha oh goodness. Best not to say π
Let’s go for three other things. Work, what’s for tea, what shall I watch next.
When, if ever, is taking a human life justified?
To protect yourself or others.
Or when someone’s getting a bit annoying, obviously.

I hate surprises too. And zoos.

Fortunately zoos are vastly improved to when I was a kid, but I’d still rather the animals roam wild in their natural habitat, unless there’s a very good reason why not (like repopulating very endangered species, with a view to release).

I’m glad to see many zoos have improved. I think the word “zoo” is used less these days in many places. People used to think it was normal for animals like the tigers to pace back and forth all day. That’s not normal but caused by anxiety and frustration. They’d prefer to be either running or sleeping. They’re hunters. I always think about how I’d feel. —- Suzanne

Me too, how I’d feel if I was in a cage for the rest of my life.

Thanks Alistair for Sharing Your World! Surprises can be quite nasty, but the good ones are sometimes fun. Still… Hm. Zoos aren’t what they used to be thankfully, most try to consider the health (physical and mental) of their animals and it can be amazing to see something up close that you’d never get to otherwise. Even so, I haven’t been to the zoo in forty years now, so … there’s that. Have a great week!

It’s been nearly 40 years since I was last at a zoo, too. That was back when animals were still confined to tiny cages all day so people could stare at them.

The “annoying person list” is getting longer by the day. Surprises can be tricky.
I haven’t been to a zoo in decades either. I always felt bad for the animals.

Yes, they were all in little cages last time I was there π¦

Fantastic answers, Draliman. We don’t like surpurrizes either. Granny has to purrepare me when someone’s coming, or I ignore them for as long as they stayπThank you for coming to my Birthday-Pawty. You made our day unforgettable. Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day especially for youπΎπ½π

Now I know why so many people try to kill me when I go out. I may be a bit annoying…

It takes ages to do your shopping when you’re constantly dodging assassins, I find…
