Sharing My World 01-02-2021
Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.
If the government offered to suspend all laws, and law enforcement for 24 hours, letting you (and everybody else) do whatever you wish… Would you be in favour of it, or not?
Oh, for sure. I definitely want to get shivved in the kidneys by someone who thinks it would be “a bit of a laugh” or ploughed down by someone doing 120mph through the village. Sounds awesome!
What would be the creepiest thing you could say while passing a stranger on the street?
“You look so peaceful while you’re sleeping.” But I wouldn’t say that, I would say “hello” because I’m not a psychopath. OR AM I…?
As a child, what did you think would be great about being an adult, but isn’t as great as you thought it would be?
I can’t really think of anything. Most of the stuff I thought would be great is at least not too bad. Downside stuff, like keeping on top of “home admin” – bills and such – I didn’t really think about as a child. I definitely don’t remember thinking stuff like “I can’t wait to grow up and organise home and contents insurance, it’ll be great!”
What, in your opinion, has been blown way out of proportion?
No idea. I can’t think of anything major happening right now that’s been exaggerated. A lot of stuff doesn’t need blowing up any more, it’s already pretty bad 😦

I agree. I’d rather not think of anything happening that 2020 didn’t already take care of and then some. I’m all for talking about better. 🙂 —- Suzanne

Kids should learn about insurance and mortgages and taxes when they play “house.” That will teach them to ever want to grow up and be big kids!

Somehow Monopoly didn’t really prepare me for the real world…

All great answers; especially the second one! Even as an adult I didn’t give too much thought to all the home maintenance. I was unpleasantly surprised on more than one occasion! 😀

Thanks, Alistair for Sharing Your World! No, I doubt any child EVER thinks of playing house and in that play including worrying about bills and insurance and taxes and what’s for dinner (well that one they might, it’s a universal question)….kids have it better than they realize. Maybe that’s what being an adult is for..?

You have to take the good with the bad when you grow up. You get control over your life but you also get everything else that comes with it!

A “Real World” Monopoly game does sound like a great learning tool… but I am not sure anyone wants to play a ‘rigged’ game that you can’t win? Although, the games at the carnivals seem to attarct a lot of participants. It’s been a long time since I won a teddy bear.

They could play real-world Monopoly with their own pocket money. That would really teach some lessons on how your money disappears without actually being able to buy anything you want. Heh heh,

I didn’t really think becoming an adult was going to be that great. So I kind of didn’t
