Sharing My World 29-08-2022
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di from Pensitivity.
Which of the following could you do without? TV, Computer, Mobile Phone.
Nooooo…..
Pretty much everything can be streamed, and phones and computers can do that and more, so it’s the TV that’ll have to go 😦
Do you have a lot of old photographs in a box, or did you put them in albums?
I have no old photographs in a box. They’re in a bag! Some have been scanned but it takes so long, most haven’t.
What was the first thing you bought for yourself when you started work?
I put together a nice music separates system. First a CD player, amp and speakers, then a radio receiver, record deck and cassette player. Separates systems were the “thing” in the late 80s/early 90s!
What is the biggest thing you have bought that did not require finance?
Hmm, that’s a tricky question – there’s a difference I think between “requires finance” and “didn’t require finance but I used it anyway”…
I generally buy mid-expense stuff using a credit card, as anything over about £100 is covered by the credit card guarantee, where the credit card company will cover you if something goes wrong as a last resort.
So for example, I bought my Wattbike with a credit card rather than savings, for the extra cover.

I remember the separates for Hi Fis too, and did something similar before buying a music centre. Thanks for joining in.

It looked far more impressive than my current music system (an Alexa sitting in the corner)!

Who needs a TV, computer or mobile phone when you have a separates system to listen to all day! Now if only you had some good music to play on it…

I do not want to let my TV go but for the same reasons, of the three, yes, that would have yo go.

Yes, the question demanded that a choice had to be made 😮

I had to google Wattbike. Looks like very hard work!

Not as hard work as dragging it up the stairs by myself during lockdown. It weighs 60kg!

I have an image of you putting your back out doing that!

Yeah, I was lucky – and stupid to try. I nearly gave up halfway, but that wasn’t really an option!

Many a cartoon catastrophe based on that situation!

I don’t have a mobile so I won’t have to do without the tv or computer. 😀

Wow!!! A Wattbike. I am very impressed. I had to look one up to see exactly what it was. I thought it was a Bike that you could pedal at home to create electricity (watts). If I had one to power my movie time, I would lose weight like crazy! (or no longer watch movies?)

I generally output somewhere around a steady 130W during a “session” so it should certainly power a TV! Not for a whole film, though.

That insurance can be really important if a product shows up damaged or a workman fails to actually do the work. Unfortunately, locally no one takes credit cards because they don’t want to pay the fees. You need to know the people you hire!

That’s often the way with local tradespeople.
