Sharing My World 11-03-2024
Here is my post for Share Your World, hosted by Di.
What was your favourite pastime as a child?
Reading and cycling around on my bike. We used to cycle right across town to visit friends. That road’s so busy now I don’t even like walking up the pavement.
Did you use colouring pencils, fibre tips, or wax crayons for your childhood drawings?
I don’t recall doing childhood drawings as such to be honest. I suppose I must have though. I vaguely remember colouring books.
Did you use a paintbox or have a ‘magic’ book where you only needed to brush the page with water?
I remember those magic books so I must have used one, but not as a regular thing. I also recall using a paintbox but that was probably at school. I wasn’t the most “crafty” child.
What kind of books did you read as a child?
I liked fantasy books. I remember there were series for little kiddies, until I got older and graduated to more grown up ones.

So some things have changed a lot,m like the traffic, and others not so much, like your taste in literature. Sounds about right. 😉

Yep, some things are out of my control, but what I read isn’t 🙂

I remember your DraliDoodles, and certainly someone (cough) talented enough to make fine art like that had to do a lot of drawing when they were young…

Ah, I remember those long hours spent slaving away with my crayons, honing my burgeoning talent which sadly didn’t burgeon quite enough…

I remember the powder paints we had at school, but art was never my thing. Thanks for joining in this week.

I preferred art lessons, not because I was any good but because it was better than double maths or triple Latin.

I didn’t mind Maths, but Latin? Nah.

We rode bikes as little kids, but when we got into high school, we took it to a new level.
Using maps, we rode all the way out into the middle of Long Island or into New York city. Even then, traffic was heavy. I sold my bike in the late 1970s. It was a beautiful (expensive) bike, but I was terrified of traffic. I missed the riding, but I didn’t miss the terror of surviving traffic.

I’d be too scared to ride out on the roads these days.

Gosh, your childhood sounds like mine. Reading and riding my bike, fantasy books, paint with water books for sure. I didn’t draw (hopeless).
